Like some of the other CoTH posters I like the older version of the Premier Equine Magic Cushion better. I’ve found that the new stuff made by Hooflex lacks the fiber to make it easy to roll up in a small golf sized ball and apply it to the soles of the hooves. The new Hooflex Magic Cushion also lacks the capsaicin that was really helpful in aiding sore feet.
If you were to add to the new Hooflex Magic Cushion Extreme what would you add to it? I’ve already added old chopped up wine corks to the Extreme to make it easier to ball up and apply with my putty knife, and it did improve the consistency some, but I think it needs more or something else. What about adding Cedar Rest bedding fiber to it?
I’ve even thought of mixing my own version - combining Rebound and Magic Cushion along with capsaicin and more fiber to make it easier to apply and have it stick to the soles of my bare foot recuperating gelding better.
Anyone else tried anything like this or have any suggestions?
