How much salt should I add for a 1000# horse? I’ve seen various amounts. Can I use iodized salt? The horse has access to a regular large salt block and a Himalayan salt block but there is no way to confirm she is using it in the small herd, of which she is the alpha mare.
You can use iodized, unless there’s any reason to suspect thyroid issues
Generally 1tbsp per 500lb gets you in the ballpark barring hard work and/or lots of sweating.
