Adequan for dogs

My vet thinks we might try Adequan injections for a senior and corgi who is having back leg problems after ACL surgery four years ago. I am interested in anyone else’s experience using Adequan injections. Any side effects?

Not f or my dogs. I’m currently using it on s collie and have used it with 3 previous shepherds. Very good results.

I used it on one of my labs and it worked great. Probably added 2-3 years to his life.

That’s hood news. I don’t think this corgi is having back problems but it’s the aftermath of that all surgery 4 years ago on his hind leg. Hoping for the best

Good results on my Germ shep with arthritis. No side effects. Did the mo long loading dose once every 3.5 days. (8 shots total). Didnt need to do again for about 13 mo.

This is encouraging I’m gonna give it a try

Been using it for about 4 years on my lab mix and at almost 14 he is still doing agility and dock diving. Last set of xrays we had about 3 months ago, vet said if he didn’t know Rei he would say he was looking at the Xray’s of a 5 yr old dog.

We used it on my 9-year-old Berner after a leg amputation due to cancer. He is getting arthritis, and you can tell-to the day- when he needs adequan again. I would definitely give it a try, it helped my senior dog immensely.

Will start loading dose this week.

Good to hear! I hope it helps your pooch!

Our geriatic APBT is much more comfortable now that we have him back on it (we were lazy and stopped for a bit in the middle, no other excuse!). We haven’t noticed any side effects, only positives.

Late to the thread. My youngish Corgi had a host of complications from a TTA repair of his torn ACL. Then tore the other one three months later which I rested rather than surgery. He never really got “well” despite all the best care/interventions. Just stiff and miserable (both hind legs) for a youngish dog. As a last resort, I did a loading round of Adequan (I think 7 shots each 4 days apart?). It made a HUGE difference. I never was impressed with the effects on my horses but this was dramatic. He’s been great since. I repeated the course at 6 months, just because. Good luck. I hope your guy has a similar response.

My #1 dog just got her dose this morning. She’s coming 13 and has been on it for a little over a year now on the advice of a friend (and fellow agility competitor) who is also a vet. I never noticed that she was sore (and we compete pretty heavily), but vet friend advised that it would be a good idea, given her age and activity level. Regular vet agreed, so we started with the loading dose and now do maintenance every other week. She’s running like a champ (and ran around in the snow yesterday, barking at me, chasing a ball and generally acting like a puppy), so we keep up on it.
