I hope you took him home. Looks so sweet.
We must instate a rule that follow ups are required. After that pic, we all want to know!!! And want another pic too…
Ack, sorry! I have been reading all replies…just no real news. I sent his records to our vet over a week ago but haven’t heard back even after a follow-up phone call. So naturally I pulled the trigger and submitted an application for him this morning!
We need to schedule a meet and greet with our dog at the shelter, which is stressing me TF out because (a) it’s a sad, stressy place and (b) it seems like such an unnatural environment that I can’t imagine it revealing much about whether they’ll get along. Also, should our guy get a bordetella booster first? I’d ask the vet but…
The hesitation is partially because I’m worried about inflicting this on my husband even though he’s extremely supportive. He’s decided our dog is on death’s door because he’s now on special kidney food, and if he has to bury two dogs in close succession that might be the end of him.
It’s common for German Shepherds to have enlarged spleens and I would not be too concerned about a German Shepherd with an enlarged but normally shaped spleen as long as it’s
otherwise healthy.
No it won’t. He’ll be sad, sure. But is the better solution to let the poor dog be euth’ed in a shelter to save some human heartache? Not in my book.
As for the meet & greet, definitely get your dog a bordatella shot if he’s not current. That’s a no-brainer.
I would see if you could do tje greet outside on the sidewalk or at least on an outdoor run. Keeping it outdoors may be less stressful and certainly healthier.
