Please remove the ads from the right-hand column of the COTH screen so I can read my messages and people’s posts. As it is, they are covering up what people are posting and I can’t move them.
This is really annoying! One is a SmartPak ad, the others are just photos that I don’t care about. I want to read posts, not see photos.

Not to be snarky but exactly how much of a “subscription fee” are you paying to use/view this forum? Exactly nothing.
The service is free to the users but not to the owners of the Chronicle. It is paid for by advertisers. IMO and experience with lots of other “free” online content the Chronicle does a very good job of not having, in your face, advertising, pop-ups and use of cookies that in turn fill one’s mail box with unsolicited offers.
I understand your frustration with the way your browser is formatting the pages. But you could have been a bit more polite in expressing it. Assuming that the problem was entirely the providers fault.
It’s one thing and to complain strongly about something we are paying for. Another thing entirely when it is being provided for free.
I use Google Chrome and never experience any issues.
Of all the thousands of people who use the forum I wonder how many actually have a paid subscription to the magazine.
I don’t have issues with this on my computers, but have issues off and on with my phone. It seems totally random as to when it does it. Earlier today I had issues where 1/3 of the post was unreadable due to being covered by ads, and now on my phone it was totally fine.

This issue is due to people with overly long urls in their signatures, and totally reproducible once you figure out who is triggering it:
Here’s one. ThirdCharm and Elles are triggering it. ThirdCharm is also triggering it (minorly) here. Elles is triggering it again here.
Gnalli triggered it here.
The mods could easily solve this problem by removing or correcting the signatures on the posters that are breaking the table. The board doesn’t know how to handle the long string of characters, so increases the width of the content table and pushes it “under” the ads on the right. Doesn’t happen on the computer screen because there’s so much more horizontal space, but it’s a problem on phones or tablets because there’s just less room.
Thanks Simkie. I just reached out to the users you mentioned to see if they would mind if we helped them adjust their signatures.

I’m struggling to change my signature - as where I suspect the edit pencil is lies under an ad …
I, of course, can’t see said edit pencil so am not sure - maybe you can’t change signatures?

It sounds like you need to read this, which was also linked above:
You edit your signature at Settings>Edit Signature.
Appreciate the link. I have no icon like a ripped page.
