We are moving to Burke, VA at the end of summer and I’m looking for a lesson barn for myself. I’ve been riding and showing since I was a child but I haven’t been on a horse in a few years . My son is now school age so I’m ready to slowly get back in the saddle. I need a trainer who is good with confidence building. I’d love a barn with other adult riders with the possibility of local shows and partial leases. Thanks in advance!
My suggestion would be to maybe start at a barn that has lesson horses - Cavallo Farm is one that might be worth checking out - it’s geared to those who want to show. Its located in Chantilly, Va. Hopefully some Va folks will chime in.
Your semi-close to me. Your shortest commute is to find a barn in the Manassas area overwise if you can ride/lesson at off times or the weekend, Leesburg/Chantilly/Aldie area. Quite a few nice barns in these areas that will fit your needs.

Cavallo Farm (Bertozzi’s) is located in Leesburg.
I am afraid I am not hooked into the lesson scene, but there are a couple of lesson barns in Nokesville. I just don’t know enough about them to make a recommendation.
You might want to go to one of the tackshops (Dover in Chantilly. Saddlery Liquidators in Haymarket, Tack Box in Middleburg) and talk to the people there. They usually have a pretty god idea of which places cater to which clientele.
It’s closer to Chantilly than Leesburg, I live 5 minutes from that farm with a Chantilly address.
I actually searched a few barns for lessons for my kids and if you do a search on previous threads there are some great suggestions. I just decided to move my pony up here and have a instructor come in a couple of times to work with her. My work schedule is kinda strange and it was difficult setting up actual times to ride vs when I could get her out to the barn.

About a decade ago I rode for a summer with Jane Nordstrom at Stonegate Stables in Aldie. I highly recommend her - the lessons were fun, educational and challenging. Also, the lesson horses were good quality and in great shape. Best of luck!
