Adverse reaction to Revolution in cats

I didn’t see my issue come up, though I found other forums talking about bad reactions to Revolution. I’ve used it on my barn cats for at least 4 years. One cat had hair loss at the application site once, and both recoil from it, but I always thought it was due to liquid being applied.

I applied it to both cats on March 9th, and my adult male was not quite himself on March 11. I left him locked in the tack room March 12, and no improvement. Lethargic and not eating. Took him to the vet, no weight loss but 105.5 temp. Rads showed something going on with his small bowel - foreign object, lymphoma, or inflammation. Surgery and all tests for removing an object were over $4000, so I went with treating inflammation. It worked! I thought he wouldn’t make it, but turned the corner this weekend.

However, I’m now convinced the Revolution did it. Any similar experiences? And what do you use for flea control? I have food grade DE from treating bird mites in the barn swallow nests, but what other options work?

The only adverse effect I’ve had was burned skin at the application site a couple of times.

But, I’m curious. Are you using regular Revolution or Revolution Plus?

Glad to hear your kitty got better without the surgery!

My old adopted cat did that 6 mo. ago. Regular Advantix I believe. Off food 3-4 days, lethargic. Really punky.

But fleas here are terrible in summer so I must give something. I switch around the brands I use to try and help.

PS/ I’ve noticed some tubes have much more liquid in them and some seem almost dry. ??

Definitely not Advantix, that is for dogs only. You could try Bravecto, or a " seresto* collar.

I used regular Revolution. It was a new box, but reading online, I’m not alone, and honestly lucky he lived. Not sure mine would keep the seresto collar on, though. I tried safety collars with bells and nope.
