how do i get rid of the video adverts at left side of page?
they are seriously slowing down - makes me wonder if they’re a virus/worm/bug, my laptop and it is driving me batty! :mad:
keystrokes are jumpy with text not showing for seconds after.
my connection is the fastest download speed so what the heck is going on?
btw this only happens at coth. no problems with other sites.

I don’t have any ads on the left side?
A few banner ads on top, a few more on the right side, not that many, that’s all.
What are you running?
I have a Mac on Safari.
On my Iphone, the ads are between posts.
I agree that ads tend to slow things down.
For me, it is very slow to post, have to wait long time for each post to finally go thru.
Hope someone can help you that knows what you have there.
I don’t see any videos. I am using Google Chrome.
I totally get why there needs to be advertising.
One of those things I have never understood is why anyone would use a video ad for stuff like this because it has to make using the forum slower, which means people are less likely to use the forum or even worse they are going to go looking for some type of ad blocker, which totally defeats the whole purpose of having the advertisements in the first place.
(In other words, I am no help with your problem, just totally understand your frustration.)
If you’re on Chrome you need to be running the extensions UBlock Origin & HTTPS Everywhere - Ublock gets rid of ads, and HTTPS makes any site ‘secure’
I would guess there are ad blockers for every system.
The thing is, those ads are what pays for us to have this free forum so if everyone runs an ad blocker then the ads get no hits and then the forum loses sponsors and we end up with no forum.

1/ am using Mozilla Firefox.
2/ screenshots are above my paygrade (unless easy instructions for HP laptop can be offered? 
)
3/ yes, brain fade. the videos & adverts are of course on the RIGHT. duh. :o
4/videos change regularly but mostly horse related (holidays, Horseland, sales etc) although Feliway is a regular
5/ads for Tax Time help, best antivirus 2017, how to fix errors and good old etihad
they are far more than coth adverts for what’s happening this month in the magazine/website

Mods, since reporting this problem the videos and the jumpy/late text issue has stopped.
(out of frustration i logged out from coth late on my friday morning. when i came back early on my saturday morning both the videos and the jumpy/jerky/late text and the constant ‘‘roll of blue wheel’’ up in the left hand corner of the address tab has also gone. hooray!)
my laptop has returned to its superfast self.

The certificate issue has stopped but now my laptop is “running hot” anytime I am on COTH and I constantly have to refresh. Also takes forever to see letters I have typed and other times COTH just locks up.
Today I have been getting some weird music here. It starts and then stops then repeats and I can’t figure out where it is coming from.
Me too, did that about three times yesterday, not since?
I could not figure what that was, glad it is not my computer.
Strange, because the ads on the right side are all gone also.
Ditto all these problems.
I get why we have to have ads.
But why do they have to reload every time you change forums? Make is very hitchy-glitchy… slow… *firstworldproblem
Why can’t the ads and COTH linked mag stories/photos be stagnant, and the only thing that changes while you switch from forum to forum be that center bit where forums show?
