advise from ShelterLogic users

Debating between a shetlerlogic “run in” and a metal carport on the land I’m leasing (can’t do drop in barn and also not going to spend a ton on something not mine per say).
There are 2 equine specific ones - a round one/tunnel and squared one that you can open/close.
Round: 12’ x 20’ x 8’ Run-In Shed - 51341 (Northern tool has)
Squared type: ShelterLogic Equine Storage Shelter, Peak Style, 12 ft. x 20 ft. x 8 ft. SKU # 106324299 at TSC (but has iffy reviews)
The other peaked style at northern tool: ShelterLogic Run-In Shelter — Peak Style, 20ft.L x 22ft.W x 10ft.H, Model# 58432

Any thoughts from those that use them??

No personal experience, so no answers to your questions. But- just to share- Dover now carries the ShelterLogic ones and is offering 20% off for a limited time. Shipping costs are comparable to ordering direction from ShelterLogic.

I have a ShelterLogic shed for our tractor and equipment. It’s not a run in shed, but rather one with zippered closings on each end. Its about 10x24 more or less and it took my husband and I
about 4 hours to put together. It did take two people as parts of it needed three hands to hold and bolt the pipe supports.
The one thing I did notice was the plastic canvas is not as heavy as I thought it would be and hubby and I joked around that my minis would make short work of shredding it with their teeth if we ever used it as a shelter for them. Maybe the horse specific shelters have heavier plastic, IDK. Other than that, we are happy with it and the tractor seems comfortable

We have used ShelterLogic for hay storage. Based on the way the canvas flaps, I know my horses would freak out being inside it. It also would never hold up to one of the horses leaning on it, or trying to scratch themselves on it. I wouldn’t use one for the horses, but that is just my opinion.

I have the round tunnel one and I love it! I live in South Florida and it has held up well. $230 from Walmart.com with free shipping to the store. You need to buy your own corral panels to set it on.

I’ve used one for hay. By the end of year 2, I was having to patch it with tape, so while it did in a pinch, it has since been replaced by metal carport.

My horses also have a carport (wind-engineered), I love them both. I’m very glad I put my money there instead. My neighbor has a couple of the shelter logic tunnel shelters for her horses, the fabric dies in major windstorms, so I suspect it has cost more than my simple metal sheds by now, due to replacement needs.

If it was just for 1 year, & you didn’t have young/particularly destructive horses, fabric might be OK, but any longer than that, money is better spent on something sturdier, IMO. I’ve learned by this point in my life, if you buy something that looks disposable, you need to be OK with it turning out to be…disposable.

Thanks! We have a shelter logic for about 2 years now that we use for equipment storage and been happy with, but wasn’t sure how the “equine” ones would hold up!
