AEC's 2019 - NO LL live streaming!

I really appreciate Y’all thanking me, but the folks actually riding there need to step up and thank others.

My biggest gripe so far is that I know Instructor/Trainers in KY, who have students, who are not riding at the AEC’s. I wish that they would have used this event as a learning experience for those students, by having them volunteer. Volunteerism is a culture. Even when I am riding at an event, I often give back by doing something in the office, before the event begins. I feel it is that important. I just don’t understand why other folks don’t do that?

As to limiting the number of entries, since the AEC’s is our National Championship, I do not believe that they can?

I know that there are many of you who believe that we should get rid of this event, altogether. For me, I was not good enough, nor my 14.3 hand Mo-rab, to go to the Pony Club Nationals back in the day. When this event became a possibility for me, I was so thrilled! I went all 3 years in IL and placed 9th at one of them. I would have placed 7th in 2008, if I had not gotten that TE. I qualified for all 3 years at Chatt Hills. The year I had cancer, my friend rode my mare and placed 7th. I placed 11th another year. For me, it was worth making it a destination event. Now that it finally came to KY, I don’t know if I will ever make it back? If I do, you bet I will be there with bells on. And, I will still be volunteering!

Yes, was just coming to close the loop on that! Proof that voicing concerns can make a difference!

They absolutely can. You can cap the number of entries just like they do at Badminton. They can limit by region first and then fill the rest if needed with the highest qualified based on points just as they do at Badminton or at many championships in other sports. It’s very hard when I see that we may lose events over the AECs. Some events are down 100 entries and that just seems wrong to me. I’d like to see a compromise. And don’t get me wrong…I’d like to ride at KHP too!! And would like to keep a special event like the AEC and ATC going…but not at the expense of other venues/events.

I have to say, I was really impressed by the AECs at the KHP this year. This was our first ever trip to these Championships. Well organized and smoothly run. I had huge concerns with so many riders, a big dog show in the Alltech Arena, and an Egyptian Arab show in the other indoor arena. But with staggered ride times for the divisions and spread out stabling getting to trailers, loading and unloading was almost easier than a regular horse show and certainly not the nightmare I feared it might be. Coupled with great weather, good footing thanks to timely rains, excellent XC courses and SJ in the Rolex Arena? Well done AECs!!

I agree 100% and even the judge I scribed for yesterday is staying on to volunteer the rest of the weekend. Side note she was lovely to me and thanked me multiple times and told me I was a wonderful scribe.

I volunteer a lot-I was scoring 6 days before I had my son, and back at it starting XC for a few hours when he was 5 weeks old. Most of the time at regular events people are nice and say thank you.

But my experience volunteering at Area VIII champs last year was the worst. I understand at championships people are under pressure, but for the love of G be nice and say thank you. I was competing and had an infant son and let me tell you, standing there in s downpour getting treated like crap by competitor after competitor (one who I reported to the organizer),was awful. So I am sort of dreading volunteering on Sunday at Stadium. With scribing I didn’t have to deal with competitors.

Boy I hate to hear that, but good for you for reporting them. No place for gratuitous nastiness. I was also impressed yesterday with how they limited the number of riders in SJ warmup. Brilliant. I think there should be more DRs given in the damn warmups or some point penalty. No question warmups are kamikaze city. The XC warmup at AEC was inadequate, probably my only bitch. Waaaay too narrow and some folks waaaay too inconsiderate of the space available.

riderboy, I wonder if they could have had folks warming up on the flat, on the steeplechase track, then let a few at a time down to school jumps? It would sort of be like what they did for SJ?

Jersey Fresh, Was Jackie Smith your Dressage Judge, for whom you scribed? These were very long days for all of the volunteers! Thank you for helping out!

Sending out a HUGE congratulations to my friend, Madeline Bletzacker, who won the Novice Rider Division!! She was the person who helped me out in 2010 to take a 7th on my Tessie. She has worked so hard with this horse. Drummer Boy and she are extremely deserving of their award!!

I scribed for Jackie on Thursday all day. She was wonderful and took time, when we had it, to explain why some people scored why they did. Great education!

I’m reading the arab show’s FB page, they’re at Balamoral. It’s a struggle finding a big enough facility, with the right number of rings and stalls, who is ok with a rotation. Not even mentioning that competitors aren’t willing to pay more so it’s a big budget thing.

The drama queen moments from people over the facilities is unreal. Someone wanted the show commission to wear neon orange shirts and carry burner phones so they could be contacted immediately by anyone with any minor issues. I know that some of the same people having a meltdown this year made a spectacle of themselves at previous shows. Is it the show, or is it you?

Rain delay

I JUST checked about a minute ago, and it said start at 8:15, but it is 30 after, and it hasn’t started yet

Kimberly with the Chronicle here. There’s been extreme weather here in Kentucky so everything was put on hold. Current start time for advanced unknown.

Thank you. We have no way of knowing what is going in. It would be REALLY helpful if you could just tell us when it starts? Thanks so much!

It says 945 at moment
