I really appreciate Y’all thanking me, but the folks actually riding there need to step up and thank others.
My biggest gripe so far is that I know Instructor/Trainers in KY, who have students, who are not riding at the AEC’s. I wish that they would have used this event as a learning experience for those students, by having them volunteer. Volunteerism is a culture. Even when I am riding at an event, I often give back by doing something in the office, before the event begins. I feel it is that important. I just don’t understand why other folks don’t do that?
As to limiting the number of entries, since the AEC’s is our National Championship, I do not believe that they can?
I know that there are many of you who believe that we should get rid of this event, altogether. For me, I was not good enough, nor my 14.3 hand Mo-rab, to go to the Pony Club Nationals back in the day. When this event became a possibility for me, I was so thrilled! I went all 3 years in IL and placed 9th at one of them. I would have placed 7th in 2008, if I had not gotten that TE. I qualified for all 3 years at Chatt Hills. The year I had cancer, my friend rode my mare and placed 7th. I placed 11th another year. For me, it was worth making it a destination event. Now that it finally came to KY, I don’t know if I will ever make it back? If I do, you bet I will be there with bells on. And, I will still be volunteering!
