AEC's 2019 - NO LL live streaming!

Is there a location in Ca with advanced to baby novice that can put up 900 horses?

It does stand for dangerous riding. As someone mentioned earlier, she jumped a prelim fence backwards. And said prelim fence was a max table with steps on the front (but the seps ended up being the back for her and she jumped the upright flat face) so the horse hit legs on the front face since it was so upright and landed on the steps.

Obviously she did not do it on purpose, but it was grounds for elimination instead of a warning. And she jumped it on accident instead of the last training fence so she crossed the finish flags before jumping the last fence so she would have been eliminated

I do wonder if there are people going because it is such an iconic location and they qualified…which is understandable, but the training course at least clearly rode like a championship course, and it looks as though not everyone was prepared for that. It should be tough, and if you aren’t really confirmed at the level, I don’t think you should go. Plenty of people go who may not be competitive in the dressage, and that’s fine, but if you aren’t ready to confidently jump a tough course at your level I think it might be a long weekend.

I agree. I do think that the AECs as a whole tend to really knock down some competitors. It is a championship, after all – and most championship venues don’t just make a course with maxed fences, they also make it maxed out in the technicality department… which makes the courses very unforgiving of rider errors, which then reflects in the amount of refusals and Es we see on the roster. Most non-championship venues ask only a handful of technical questions per course, and certainly don’t make them maxed out in that regard.

what time does the live stream start today? I have managed to miss it every day this week.
Is there a view of the courses? advanced to baby novice?

Yes or increase the entry fees so less people go and they make more money for the live stream.

I’m just so jealous up here in Ontario, we don’t even have Ontario champs this year :frowning:

I just tuned in. Is there a hold on course?

Arden Wildasen fell.

yes, a girl from Illinois has fallen. It has been down for about 10 minutes or so. Boyd is out on course. And Leslie Law. He made a spectacular save at a big combination fence.

Live stream has been down for a while. I hope everyone is ok.

Commentator says Arden to hospital, horse Ok. Live stream up

It’s very clear across all levels that this AECs is anything but a dressage competition!

Go Waylon!

Jinxed him, looks like the jump fell apart after his stop.

Larksmom, there is a link to course maps with pics of every fence on the USEA site

I don’t quite understand how you end up accidentally jumping a max prelim table, but not judging the girl by any means. That must’ve been terrifying.

The one person I personally know who is at AECs is there because it is at the Kentucky Horse Park. This person had been pursuing a qualification at one level and kept having xc issues so dropped back a level and qualified.

Being on the west coast, the only reason I know one person who is there is because they moved from here back to the east coast.

I just got home from jump judging the Advanced Division. On Wednesday, I jump judged Intermediate and helped as a crossing guard for Prelim. I helped JJ the Training Division yesterday. These definitely are Championship courses, with a lot of terrain questions. I did not see the jumps at “The Head of the Lake” yesterday in the Training Divisions, but do know that is where most of the refusals and a couple of falls were. I don’t know if the mystique surrounding “The Head of the Lake” played into jitters about going there? I remember the first time that I got to go through it, during Team Challenge. It was such a big deal to me. Maybe the horses were sensing it?

As to the DR given yesterday, I saw it happen. I was jump judging at the last water complex. It was a straight line, from the brush out of the water, to the Prelim fence, while you had to turn left and make a S turn to go to the last Training fence. Since I received a TE at one of the AEC’s in IL, for jumping a Novice, instead of BN fence, I understand brain farts. However, I did not jump a fence backward.

Arden W. is listed in the program, as living in South Carolina now. She used to be in Kentucky. I ate dinner with Arden and her family at one of the MSEDA banquets. They are such a nice family! I am praying that everything is fine with her and her horse.

The days for the Volunteers are soooo long. Today, my DH is a crossing guard from 8:30am to around 7:30pm. We arrived for the briefing at 7am. I only had 3 people thank me for volunteering, during all of those hours there. :frowning: Putting on this huge production that is the AEC’s, is a huge task, especially with that many riders and horses. If you know someone riding there, would you please ask them to step up and thank a volunteer? It is, after all, often a thankless job.
