Affordable Cavaletti Risers

I have been looking for some affordable cavaletti risers. I found these and wanted to see if anyone had tried them or had recommendations

Those products look interesting!

I use Bloks, which are cheaper ~$64/pair from State Line .

We had the smartpak risers… different brand but they were ok. Pricey though!

A fellow boarder has something similar to the second link you posted, which work really well. She has these (http://www.statelinetack.com/item/blok-training-system/SLT310503/) but I don’t see much functional difference. They work well, they’re very stable, and she’s had them the entire 9+ years I’ve known her and while they’re not white anymore, they’ve certainly held up well. We also use them as extra seating (the tallest way) when we watch our trainer teach.

my hubby and I went the total budget friendly route and built 4 pairs for about $75.00 using red cedar (Lowe’s). I wasn’t worried about adjustability, and using 2x6 boards as our base and landscape timbers we came out with an overall height of 7", just perfect for my Arab.
I’m trying to figure out how to post a photo…

well, I must not have enough street cred to attach or insert photos yet
I love my new cavaletti because they are lightweight, water tolerant and were fun & easy to build. I also think they are pretty safe. wish I could show photos… oh well

My DH also built cavalettis for me using landscape timbers. Each end looks like an X, which you can rotate to change the height from something like 1 to 7 inches or so. My DH is NOT particularly handy, so I’m sure they were pretty easy to make. I think I found the instructions online.

I just saw someone that discovered these for cavaletti risers.
Genius and the price is certainly right. Only one height but that is plenty for dressage type work with cavaletti.

I’m going to get me some:yes:.

I’ve used cement blocks. They are adjustable in the fact that you can use the upper or lower holes. Of course, my horse was very trustworthy. I know some people would be afraid of falling on the blocks should something happen. I also know of someone who used laundry baskets from the dollar store or gallon milk jugs filled with sand. I like the children’s potty idea.

I wonder if you could weight them? Maybe put sand in that hole?

Please do let us know how they hold up to use and sunshine!

Those SmartPak ones look pretty good @ $169 for a set of 8. Better if you wait for one of their 15% off sales.

Whatever you do, don’t get these Rail Razers. The slightest tap and they fall over. Annoying!

At our barn we have some really simple ones that are just 3/4" plywood squares with a hole slightly bigger than the pole diameter cut in them. They sort of prop up at an angle when they’re set up. Cheap and easy.

Schnieder’s has the Bloks for $57.99, but they’re a bit bulky if you just want cavaletti and not jumps.

The IKEA potties hold up great to weather and sun. They really have no need to be weighted. Very versatile. Love mine.

Do you have any photos of them in action? I’d be super interested for my little backyard setup, but admit that I’d probably have to spray paint them a different color…

Those potties are BRILLIANT!

Do you know how high they lift the rail?

It says height is 7" in the specs, so if we want to believe the ad (that seems low for a kid to be sitting on, but what do I know) and assume the 7" is the highest point, it looks like maybe 4-5" is what the actual bottom of the rail would be raised? Then you add in the 3" of rail, and it would be off the ground about 8".
