Afleet Alex pensioned

We do not have a “pensioned” thread that I could see.

I was really happy to see that he’ll stay at Gainesway, and I love the picture of him in this article- he looks like a very sweet guy!

I got to meet him when he was 4. He was not that tall, but so nicely put together that he seemed bigger. He had that look about him and a lovely temperament, Glad to see that he’s got a soft landing.

Loved this horse.

Probably one of the better non-Triple Crown winners. I alway wondered how well he would have done if he had run later in his three-year old year and/or as a four-year old.

His career could very well have been shortened by his near-fall in the Preakness, when Scrappy T came over on him. He was retired because of damage to a foreleg that could have stemmed from that accident.

I am not privy to his offspring but are they as good looking and well made as he is? He has always been a really lovely horse. Mega props to Gainesway for giving him a home for life. He has always been a treasured horse. I will never forget his owner-group and Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
