I am getting a watering system installed for my dressage arena. I live in the arid desert southwest and have always yearned for an easy way to water my arena that didn’t involve buying a water truck or trailer. For the last several years that yearning was put aside as my horse was in full training so I wasn’t riding at home. Those circumstances have unfortunately changed and I am back at home, with a boarder from the training barn to boot. So, my wonderful husband has designed a sprinkler system for me. A 2500 gallon water tank that can be filled overnight off of our well will connect to high impact sprinklers down both long sides of the arena. With the help of a gas powered water pump we will be able to water one side and then the other, in a short period of time! Project should be complete in a few days. I am so excited.
Also on tap for the arena are full mirrors across one short end. My husband acquired a large amount of structural steel from a tear down project a couple of years ago. He is going to use it to build a wall which we will then mount mirrors to. Another big wish for many, many years. Now that I no longer have consistent and educated eyes on the ground to watch over me, mirrors have become more of a necessity.
He is a great horse husband and very handy to have around!!
Pictures of both projects will be forthcoming.
