I want to get a hopper/grass catcher on my zero turn, but not only does JD want $1300 for one, they can’t get one of the parts. Anyone have any luck with aftermarket stuff and where?
have you tried JD dealers in the northeast?
As for “aftermarket” these bagging systems appear to be designed to fit a specific mower as even ones that are made for specific units are carrying disclaimers " * Will NOT fit any other deck sizes or mower brands"
I haven’t, no. Just the local one where I bought the machine. I can’t imagine dropping more than a quarter of the purchase price on an ATTACHMENT.
Do any universal or off brand options even exist at a lower price?
Sure, we have some off brand attachments for our tractor, but they’re simple universal pieces. The grass catchers look very specific to each machine, and a whole lot more complex in how they fit.
Yeah, I see Lowes etc has them when I do a Google search, but then in the teeny writing at the bottom they will only fit a certain set of machines (not mine). It’s just frustrating that not only do they want an arm and a leg, but they claim they can’t even get it for me. I know the Frontier brand is like the Kmart John Deere.
First I do not have first hand knowledge however to me it appears the attachment of drive for the blower that is used to move the stuff from the deck to the bagging system is specific to the unit and as you noted the attachment points also appear to very specific to the model
None of this surprises me as my neighbor’s company supplies parts to Peterbilt truck manufacturing … there are nearly Six Thousand variations of fuel tanks which are all special made to order…6,000 fuel tanks?
Yeah and they say the blower unit is the part they cannot get. Not helpful haha.
So…no? There isn’t an aftermarket option for YOUR machine?
Seems like there’s not much of a choice but to shell out the dollars for the real thing, when it becomes available from Deere.
Or, you could sell the mower you have and buy another one that includes the bagger.
I could, but I don’t think I will.
