oh man…
i wish those stinking guys would come back as a difficult horse and land into the hands of another ‘trainer’ of their ilk. Lets see how THEY like being beaten up.
There’s a special place in hell for animal abusers.
Every possible discipline you can do with horses has it’s share of bad or abusive trainers. I have known some real " cowboys" who treated each horse they rode with kindness and respect. It is up to the one sending the horse out for training to thoroughly investigate the trainer they are sending them to.
You can’t label all cowboys in one lump as bad , abusive trainers any more than you can trainers from any other discipline or group.
I just watched this TRT video and it was fascinating to see how aggressive this horse was with his owner and then how calm be became with Tristan’s clear, calm way of being. Thought it was worth a share:
English riders, at least in my part of the world (ON, Canada) will send a difficult horse to a “cowboy”, hoping they will have better stickability and be able to ride out the bucks and broncing, so the horse will learn/unlearn.
This is how I ended up with a lovely pasture pet. Turns out the horse had medical reasons for the rodeo behavior, and even the “cowboy” could not stick out the wild antics. Previous owner should have spent the money on a vet as opposed to a “cowboy”. No disrespect to actual cowboys.
eta sorry, didn’t realize how old this post was!!
