AHHA- recognized studbooks?

Hey All- I need help. I found a really super Canadian Warmblood mare with strong Holsteiner lines, trying to figure out if I can register with AHHA? Is Canadian Warmblood an approved studbook with AHHA?

I am a bit of a breeding novice…TIA.

First of all, you can’t register a horse with more than one Warmblood registry. If she’s Canadian Warmblood, then that’s her registry. Now, you could possibly get her inspected and approved in a breeding book for AHHA so that her offspring could be registered as Holsteiners. For example, I have a TB mare that I breed to a KWPN, but the subsequent foal will be registered Westfalen, because that’s what she’s approved for (and the registry that inspects closest to me.).

I don’t think Canadian Warmblood is erkend with AHHA, but I scanned their rulebook and couldn’t find a list of approved books either. Best recommendation is to email the office with a copy of your mare’s pedigree and ask which books she’d be eligible for.

Best of luck!

For the most part it is WBFSH recognized than it is excepted. The pedigree will matter most if it is CW registered. The best thing to do is go to www.holsteiner.com and click the “Does my mare qualify?” button. You will be contacted by Patricia who will review your mares pedigree with you. Best of luck.

Can you share her pedigree? I don’t have anything to offer beyond what Tim said, but I love seeing who’s who out there
