Ahonoora line,Tb stallion for sale in TX

I came across this Dreamhorse ad, which went up a few weeks ago and thought I would share it here. I don’t know anything about the horse (name is Final Row) or the seller, but it’s a very interesting pedigree for sport horse breeding, and definitely not common in the US. I thought there might be a VERY small chance that there was a knowledgeable, good hearted person out there who could give this boy a soft landing, and maybe use him for some nice sport foals. The ad says they are liquidating a TB breeding program, and he needs a home.

The older boy is listed at $500… hopefully the owner is careful he doesn’t end up in a bad spot.

I found a few photos of him via google (I think from several years ago). It’s hard to see much… tall grass. His knees look a little off. Nice shoulder.

Link to pedigree. Curious as to what others think of his pedigree for sport.

Hope he finds a soft landing!

Poor guy. He’s too close to Mexico.
If someone will take him, I’m in for $100 dribble.
I hate to think what will happen to the old broodmares there.

I’m hopeful the owners are serious about him not going to a bad home. He is in his early twenties, and uncomfortably close to Mexico though.

I did a brief search after posting. Only one other Indian Ridge son standing in NA… Legal Jousting in Canada. As far as other Byerly Turk line TB stallions, who are JC registered, only TF Classic Twist in WV. He obviously isn’t being used for racing breeding though. Orujo de la Galerna had the Tourbillon sire line too, but he is deceased - available frozen though for sport horse breeding. I think he was mainly used on ISH mares for eventing.

I wonder if any of Final Row’s foals made their way to sport homes after racing. He does look like he has good bone, in addition to the nice shoulder.

Legal Jousting’s owner sometimes posts here. I think she and everyone would have loved nothing more than for him to get a quality son to carry on the line, but unfortunately things don’t always happen like you want them to.

That’s too bad, about the lack of a quality son. I guess certain lines die out for a reason.

Hopefully this will help to make someone think he has some worth.

Thanks for weighing in @Elles . And for sharing your write up on Definitely Red and what this sireline has contributed to sport.

Maybe we can send that on to his current owners, and they could try reaching out to the steeplechase community on the East coast. Maybe there would be some interest.

 I really love my boy, and yes, I would have loved to have seen a son take over. My thoughts on Legal Jousting have always been that he had a credible race record, and an exceptional female family - the fact that he’s a Byerley line stallion was incidental. I really do hope that Final Row finds a soft landing, but I believe that his owners are quite involved in thoroughbred aftercare programs, so hopefully there is a higher chance of a good outcome.

Thanks for weighing in, @K~2 . Have many of your boy’s offspring found their way to second careers in sport? Just curious

After my interest got peaked in Final Row, I found his Facebook page. The owners do seem serious about finding the right home for him, but focused more on possibilities as a polo sire or crossing with quarter horses for sporty Western types. It seems like te TB industry in Texas is in tough shape, so other pursuits are probably better local options for him. He definitely looks a bit smaller (15.2 or 15.3) and a little bit downhill. I like his overall confirmation and substance though. Looks like a very sound horse.

There aren’t many foals out there, as a race career was first and foremost the goal. I do know of a couple out there enjoying a second career, one competing provincialy in the low jumpers, and another that I bred is working on dressage with her amateur owner. It’s been fairly hard to keep track of foals that were bred by others, so it’s completely possible that there are others.

And let’s not forget Ebanour.
