Aiken - Need Suggestions

Pasting here for some feed back. Thank you!

Editing to add: suggestions for tennis lessons, yoga or pilates - riding with one or two others, no nose to tail rides, things to do, as a single woman I would very much appreciate suggestions. want to see what it will be like to live here, I plan on spending time here in the following several months, then renting for a year to see if I feel comfortable - suggestions on things to do appreciated. I am a dressage rider, use to ride hunter Jumpers. Thank you!

Hello CoTH Friends,

I am visiting Aiken from Dec 18 - 29 – I am thinking of moving there - would like your thoughts on what is going on during that time - I am also looking for places that has a horse and guide to ride through Hitchcock Woods? I would also be interested in checking out some dressage barns? Although realize that is tricky…

Would love your thoughts.
Thank you!

I haven’t lived in Aiken for several years, so I can’t help you with current activities, but, I bet if you contacted Lara Anderson or Sharer Dale or similar on Facebook, they’d be able to offer you some info. Both are real estate agents in Aiken who are horsey.

If you are on Facebook, the best place for all your questions is the Aiken SC Area Dressage, Eventing & Show Jumping page.

yes, I am - Thank you! I just posted today and got good advice. Thank you!

We visited during this time of the year two years ago (after coming during the season several times) and we loved it so much we did move here! Aiken is great! Suzy Haslup is another horse-savvy realtor. There is a fun parade on the 18th- just horses and dogs! I highly recommend staying at the Carriage House Inn if you can- easy to walk everywhere downtown and beautiful. The facebook page recommended above is also super. Enjoy! It’s a wonderful place to live.

Thank you!!! I am looking forward to my stay!

There is a lady that does take groups out in the woods for western guided rides but I cant think of her name. Another good Aiken group on facebook is Aiken Life and Sport so someone might now who it is. Enjoy your visit  Its a wonderful place to live.

Thank you - I would rather not go on a nose to tail trail ride - am looking for someone that may have an extra horse to ride in Hichcock Woods with them. Thank you for your reply, I am very grateful!
