Seems like a regular protector with the air vest built in, anyone tried it, any opinions? Pricey, but looks interesting.

it seems to be much cheaper than its competitors.
I agree, which is why I surprised I found so little information on it!
I want one!
I’m assuming these are like the Point 2 or Hit Air vests that have a regular body protector built in, looks like one of the CO Ayrvest options inflate in and the other inflates out? I guess that’s what they mean about the “draped, looser fit” versus a “snug fit”? Weird that there is almost no information about them out yet. I googled and can hardly find anything but random Airowear or Co Facebook posts with limited info. Wonder why they aren’t more heavily advertised?
Wow! Looks like a great product! Very interested to hear some reviews.
I’m pretty sure that these are the vests that were used at WEGs last year. I saw their booth at Surefire and they had a picture of PD wearing it.
Bumping this back up to see if any COTHers have one? Reviews, opinions? Thanks!
It’s by Airowear, not CO, right?
Yep, I think it was CO originally, changed post title
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe CO bought AiroWear (or maybe they just market them in the US).
The store I worked at stocked both models (Flexion and UltraFlex, I think?) and they are heavy! Once on, the weight is distributed well, but I felt like the bulk pushed my elbows away from my body quite a bit. Like the regular AiroWear and CO body protectors, they start out stiff but warm up and conform nicely. I even got popped in it, which felt like a tight hug then relaxed pretty quickly. Unfortunately I can’t tell you anything about how they are to ride in.
We honestly did not sell many when I was there, the Hit Air was generally more popular for an everyday vest among casual riders. We hadn’t gotten many eventers in looking at them before I left.
thanks WNT! I appreciate the feedback, I still find it odd they’ve been out for over a year and no reviews anywhere online yet! Must not be that great!
I’m just bumping this up to see if anyone has tried these and can compare the Flexion versus the Ultraflex version? I tried the Ultraflex version on and it felt pretty bulky, but it also was a medium and I would get the xs. Is the Flexion more flexible?
Old thread, I know, but I figured I’d pitch my two cents in I actually found this thread because I’m looking for servicing information.
I’ve had the ultra flex version since july 2016 and i’ve shown several times in it. I just love it. Like WNT mentioned it’s pretty stiff at the beginning, and it’s sometimes hard to zip up for me, but once i’ve had it on for about 5 minutes it loosens right up and feels very comfortable. It IS heavy but I don’t find it to be too hot and I love the look of it. I’ve popped it on the ground just to test it out but I haven’t actually fallen in it yet. once i’m out on XC i don’t find it to be in the way at all.
I have slo-mo video of popping it which is fun
Hey lizzyespy I’m thinking about getting a Airowear Ayrvest Ultra Flex and if you could help me out that would be great! They size the Flexion model perfect for me but they size the Ultra Flex model differently because apparently it fits tighter? I can only find an Ultra Flex so that’s the one I’m going to have to buy. The measurements for the small are too small and the measurements for the medium are too big so I’m not sure which one to order! Can you tell me how they fit and also does the actual body vest have straps or velcro on the shoulders and waist to loosen or tighten to make them fit better? Also have you ever fallen off your horse with it on - the last post on this thread was a year ago - hopefully you haven’t but if you did I’d like to know how you thought it worked. I had a bad fall and I really need get as much protection as I can… anyway thanks for you help!
