AiroWear XC vest?

What do you think of this vest vs. others such as a Tipperary? I like that it feels safer yet is not too bulky. I haven’t actually gotten to ride in it yet… opinions? Suggestions? thanks!

I have one. I don’t wear it much as I am not allowed to jump anymore (except for teeny things). But I like that it fits me (their size range is amazing and they actually make vests for SHORT women). I don’t notice that I am wearing it, but I suspect it would be very warm in hot weather. It’s a little hard for me to get the velcro straps tight enough but that’s mostly me and my post-injury stiff shoulders.

Overall, I really like it.

I have the Outlyne. I like it–it’s the first one I’ve found that fit over my chest, instead of riding up and hitting my chin. It is hotter than the Tip, but I didn’t find it unbearable or anything.

I just tried one on at SmartPak and thought it was really comfortable. It definitely seemed to have more “give” than the others. I haven’t bought a new one yet but I thought this was a comfortable option for a decent price. I also was looking at the Rodney Powell one and wanted to try that on too before making a decision

This is a somewhat different question but related - are the shoulder pads worth getting and do they really help prevent a collar bone injury? I was thinking of getting those too but not sure if they really worked?

I love this vest! I always ride with it, since I’ve heard all the horror stories about people not wearing vests and getting hurt. It fits well and is super comfortable. It really conforms to your torso. It also offers a lot more protection than a tipperary. I think Airower is owned by Charles Owen, but I like Airowear vest way more than the Charles Owen as well. It is a bit bulky, but the material is fairly squishy, especially when its warm. Still lots of freedom of movement. I’ve been using it for 3 years and its still in great condition. I love the durable nylon outer layer. My horse can be a bit of a spaz at times, especially on cross country, and I fall off a lot, so I love how protective this vest is. The custom colour option is great too. I went riding in Ireland this summer and brought my trusty vest along. The coach at the barn I stayed at said it was the best one on the market. The Outlyne is definitely worth the money.

I have this vest and really like it! And I also have a Tipperary. I like them both, for different reasons. The Outlyne fits very well, and feels very substantial. It makes me feel like it would protect me way more in a fall than the Tip. It is somewhat hotter than the Tip, which is a big deal in the summer in the central valley in California, but it’s not horrible. I end up wearing my Tip at home jumping (I wear a vest for every ride, not just cross country), and the Outlyne at shows. The only negative with the Outlyne is that i feel like I can’t get my elbows as close to my sides as I can in the Tip. But this is very minor, and I wouldn’t have noticed it except for something my trainer said.

I too would be interested to hear if anyone has the shoulder pads and how those work? I have broken my collarbone before (not wearing any vest) and it’s not an experience I want to repeat.

I love my Outlyne. As someone who always seems to hit the ground first with the tailbone area, I can vouch for it’s great protection in that area. I’m not good in heat, and this vest does not bother me regardless of the temperature. I also quickly forget that I’m wearing it, so that’s always nice. If you order it from the UK, you can get any color you want.

I have just bought my 2nd Outlyne, the first one is 4 years old and getting a little tatty, so when I saw one nearly new I snapped it up. Never ride without it.

I just got one of the outlynes in the mesh material for my daughter and she really likes it, much more breathable.

I have an outlyne. I will say I feel hot in summer right up to when I was actually am doing xc, than I didn’t notice. It feels unforgiving when you first put it on but once it warms up it fits amazing. And all the size options made finding the one that fit real easy. Fits me way better than the tipperary.

Did you get the airmesh? Is the fit the same as the outlyne than?
