All Southern German breeding Societies

I have seen “all Southern German breeding societies” listed a few times on stallion ads. What exactly does it mean?

There is a stallion that I am interested in breeding to for 2021. The mare that I am interesed in crossing with is registered Oldenburg NA/ISR. She is not ellgiable for Hanoverian. The stallion page says, “Approved For: Brandenburg, Oldenburg, Hanoverian, all Southern German breeding societies”.

We would like to produce the best foal possible regardless of registy, but what registries would be availiabe to us?

That ad could be misleading or incorrect. Sire must be Approved by one of the other registries listed and dam eligible for approval, otherwise you are limited to ISR.

If the mare is registered Oldenburg NA then you would need to contact that registry to see if that stallion is acceptable for the foal to be registered. I would think that if the stallion is approved for that many registries that he would be acceptable for Oldenburg NA but I would check with them to be sure. You might have to pay an outside stallion fee to register the foal. If you want the foal to be registered in another registry besides Oldenburg NA you would need to send the mare’s pedigree to see if it was acceptable for the new registry and get her inspected and placed in a mare book. It would be easier to just check with Oldenberg NA concerning the acceptability of the stallion.

FWIW the mare being registered with ISR Old isnt the same thing as approved for breeding. The mare will still need to be presented somewhere with or without her foal to be approved for breeding.

Yes the mare will have to be presented to ISR Old or another registry for breeding approval but she may not be eligible for another registry. That will depend on her pedigree. Her sire may not be “approved” by another registry just because he was approved by ISR Old. The easiest thing to do is call ISR Old and see if they will accept the stallion the OP wants to breed to. I agree - it would be better to get the mare inspected first but it can be done with the foal at her side.

Err, it’s not misleading or incorrect. “All Southern German breeding societies” is the conglomerate term for Mecklenburg, Zweibrucker, Deutsches Sportpferd, Rheinland, etc.

What does “she is not eligible for Hanoverian” mean? A horse can only be registered with one WB registry. But they can be approved for breeding with multiple registries, depending on her breeding and whether she has to be presented at a MPT, or whether pedigree or performance is enough.

We would like to produce the best foal possible regardless of registry, but what registries would be availiabe to us?

That entirely depends on the above, and which of those options match the options provided by the stallion, which has been fairly well laid out between your OP and Anne’s addition. And THEN it’s a matter of what inspection you can get her to, of the potential options, if an in-person inspection is required.
