All the linen from the campground...what happens to it???

It occurred to me as I was leaving this morning - what will happen to the MOUNTAIN of blankets, sheets, pillows, etc. that were used at the campground?

I asked in the office as I checked out, but there was no definite answer.

I am hoping that it will be laundered and donated to homeless shelters, family service shelters, etc.

Does anyone know?

Hoping it is laundered and donated ~ nice idea ~

Flight Check,

I surely did enjoy hearing you during the WEG. I have really missed hearing you announce at events! Are you coming to Team Challenge?

Donating the items would be a really nice thing to do.

Did they buy all of them, or were they from a linen service?

Not sure how it will work with WEG but I was involved with a firm that supplied linen and furniture to the Commonwealth Games village here in NZ in 1990 (wow, 20 years ago - man I’m old! haha but still remember Toddy and Charisma riding into the arena with our flag like it was yesterday tho  )

The linen and some of the furniture was supplied to the games on a buy back basis. Most of the linen was sold to hire firms, a lot of the furniture to schools.

Donating to shelters would be nice but for a lot of firms it’s hard keeping head above water in these tight times.

Thanks, Auburn - see you in a week at Team Challenge.

The answer I got at the campground office was that all of the linen would be loaded into that big tractor trailer truck , “and then WEG would decide what to do with it”.

I chose to purchase my own sheets/towels/comforter at Wal-Mart - it was COLD and their little polyester bedspread was not enough.

Judging by the HUGE amount of bedding, etc. that WalMart had at the front (and the way people of different countries were stacking their carts), I’d say many others did the same.
