Alligatorweed gaining ground here

This stuff is beginning to make headway in a few places on our farm. I made the decision to eradicate it. Based upon a) Oz and NZ deciding it’s a toxin. b) my horses and cattle will NOT eat it. c) it has begun to infiltrate several pastures

Initially i’ve just been pulling it up. But, the stuff creeps and puts out little roots as it goes. This type of plant can propagate by little pieces. And i suppose too any parts of the plant or roots i’ve left behind.

Does anyone else have experience with this stuff? Will i have to resort to chems to rid us of it?

know nothing about this personally but since it is an “Aquatic mat-forming perennial” is there the possibility reducing its habitat by installing drainage tiles to increase the water runoff speed?

We have been in an extensive drought which has had a side effect of killing off the weeds in the pastures. Those weeds that tried to endure I easily killed off with spot treating with 30% Vinegar (mixed half and half with water and some liquid dish detergent)
