Please tell me HOW you are even getting a feed, let alone a crappy feed! I tried to register with iHigh, and it kept kicking me off. I have two browsers with extremely high bandwidth, and I can’t get it to load. I watch all sorts of streaming, from H/J to reining, to Arabs, to breed shows, with absolutely no trouble at all. One click and I am there. I can’t believe that the tech people at Alltech are so behind the times that they don’t know what everybody else is doing. As for the comment from the NHS that live streaming is interfering with attendance, it is very presumptuous to think that people 3,000 miles away are going to fly to Kentucky to watch this show unless they have a horse competing. The Snaffle Bit Futurity in Reno thought the same thing last year. Their board of directors decided that the stands needed to be filled, so they didn’t live stream the finals. Guess what, it didn’t make a difference in attendance. This year they streamed the whole thing and not a peep was heard anymore about attendance!
That is uncalled for. Seriously, why would any company want to sponsor equine events when people act this way with the services they are providing for FREE?

Get a grip already.

Why do I think they have the Obamacare techs working on the NHS feed? :)
A lot of pressure to be riding a horse named Winner!
Except he pretty much wins all the time, so he is well named.

If you don’t use the link you provided, it does ask you to register and it was too much trouble so I didn’t bother. Then when I saw the link that was provided, it brought you directly to the live streaming.

I think all horse shows need to realize they will never make money off spectators. This is not a spectator sport. full stop. The only people interested in watching anything bar maybe the grand prix, are riders themselves. Most classes at these horse shows are the type that I stream next to the window I’m working it and would not pay for a feed or to spectate from. The only classes I would pay for or consider attending would be the big medals or the big jumper classes held on weekends.

If horse back riders want big, cumulative finals, that’s great, but I don’t think it will ever be sustainable through spectators and I don’t think its all that sponsor friendly either. I enjoy watching these weekend after weekend, but I don’t think these would be attractive to a non hunter jumper rider. Either these shows attempt to make it work on small sponsors and entry fees or they shrink the number of shows down to make it more competitive and more attractive.

Wow! are you ever right! I just followed the link on my iPhone 5 and its beautiful! So weird though that it won’t work on my kick-ass gaming computer!
This is simply a matter of resolution, your iPhone screen is a fraction of the size of a computer screen. Since they are streaming at very low resolution, the smaller the screen size the better. Imagine blowing a 4"x6" print photo up to 8"x10" (or in my widescreen monitor’s case, 18x24).

Thank you Alltech, yes. Whether the wisest thing is to keep this poorly attended relic going, rather than make the Maclay a special standalone event, is still up for debate, but I do thank them for the effort.

Just a note though, since the equestrian world seems to (still) be woefully behind the technological times, soon they will want this feed on their TVs. Forget cell phones & iPads, they’re going to want to blow that 244p feed up to 64" and watch it from their couch with big organized gatherings of crazy horse people. Like football & men on Sundays. That technology is here and being sold out of Best Buy each day and soon this is how sports & entertainment will be served to the public. This is how the little guy gets his coverage out to the entire world. NBC won’t take us but who cares? You can serve the entire world from your own HTML domain. Now THAT’s big advertising return.

USEFNetwork is figuring this out, though I still can’t get it on my TV (through Wii or Blu-Ray), they at least seem to be heading in that direction.

So… just a note… in case, ya know, ya wanna start… working on that. I would swoon over that.

Apparently feed is better today, have not checked, but thank you for that too Alltech. Any chance they can upgrade the quality of last night’s saddlebred switch?

I watched Harrisburg and Washington on my 46" tv. It has a browser built into it (I think they market it as a “smart” tv). Navigated to the USEF network site, started the feed and put it on full screen. Boom

I did the same thing by hooking up my computer with an HDMI cable. Had a friend over to watch with me!

I can watch all feeds on my TV via mirroring through my Apple TV/Macbook. It’s great.

I tried that with my built-in wii browser and it wouldn’t play… but it is a super crappy browser. This is good to hear, I will keep trying!

does anyone know anything about the horse MTM Summit? Awesome horse! Jumps so big!

I agree that, for most, H/J Shows are not spectator sports except, possibly, for the jumpers.

I showed for different periods in my life and still love some parts of the sport. However, spending all day watching a bunch of horses mosey around a ring bores me to tears. If there are people or horses you like to follow, that can make a big difference but I go to a show now, say hello to those I know, absorb the latest gossip, watch a couple of rounds, get dirty, wet and/or sun-burned and go home.

My computer programmer hubby built a computer just for our TV set up. We run all our movies, tv, streaming this way and it’s amazing. Any time I watch TV the “old fashioned” way, it feels so antiquated. I love being able to access content from the web that isn’t on a major network. It’s liberating to be able to watch what I want even if it isn’t mainstream enough to be on the likes of NBC.

I don’t know what they did differently today, but the feed is indeed improved. It’s still not stunning and still leaves a bit to be desired but is at least watchable. It’s damn near perfect as long as the camera isn’t moving; faster the cam moves, the worse the feed gets. I’ve been able to stream it on a 70" Plasma, no problem. Props to Alltech for working on the issue and their continued sponsorship.

His barn name is Big, actually. He’s from Mike McCormick and Tracy Fenney.

Loading… endlessly!

Horse shows do realize that; why do you think they charge sky high entry fees, office fees, etc.? Some on these indoor threads are so uneducated it makes them impossible and un-enjoyable to read. No horse show of any national caliber is expecting to make money off spectators in this day and age.

Will someone please post a link to the page where the stream is already functioning? That seemed to work yesterday…

I’m not sure what browser you’re using, but I couldn’t get it to load in Chrome; just endless loading. When I shut off ABP in Firefox, it loaded after a minute or so. Hope that helps.

Love it! His round cracked me up… he made it look easy! Cool horse.
