Altech National Horse Show

Shadbellys are only worn by women, and only for “Stakes” classes, classics, and recently in hunter derbys. Basically, anywhere “formal” attire is required. A shadbelly is not required attire however, and a regular hunt coat can be worn for these classes as well. It isn’t appropriate to wear a shadbelly unless it is noted as appropriate attire in the class specs. Is this similar to when saddleseat riders wear tuxedos with top hats?

No, formal tux’s and top hats, bow ties and cumberbunds are usually worn during evening classes or sometimes a formal coat will be worn as seperates with a pair of jod’s. But, it is not a requirement but someone who shows frequently and at higher levels will have a wardrobe of very pricey habits!!!

To everyone else who has answered my questions and provided explainations I want to say thank you for taking the time to do so. I’m very inquisitive so as the saying goes…“inquiring minds want to know” .

Road Apples, I think it’s great that you are participating on this thread. You will help educate our eyes about saddle seat rides!

are there scores anywhere?

ahhhh…I hope Dedication is okay :frowning:

Yikes, that was a hell of a crash for Dedication! I saw Scott move up to the distance and fully expected the horse to jump, but then he slammed on the breaks. Looks like he is walking out ok.

And vice versa!!

Hey, can I change my name to “ShakeyTail” it’s so cute–love it.

And…speaking of tails…we use a lot of fake ones too!!

They don’t score at the NHS.

Where can we watch it now that USEFNetwork had to stop their coverage? :frowning:

Hopefully, here: http://www.ihigh.com/alltechequine/broadcast_568795.html?silverlight=1

But the quality is pretty bad : /

Huh? I’m watching on USEF right now?

Really? If you look at their twitter they’re apologizing that they had to stop coverage because Alltech wouldn’t let them do it. I just tried to watch on there and it doesn’t work. iHigh does but with absolutely terrible quality.

Weird - I’m watching on USEF now too. I did just go to their FB page though and saw the announcement a few minutes ago. Kind of sucks since I can’t get the other feed to work. Way to build good will via sponsorship Alltech

I just saw that note too. I wonder why? The feed from iHigh sucks, its so blurry!

I want Everly

I’m still getting the USEF stream too. Guessing as long as I don’t shut the browser down I’ll still get it? HOpefully at least, since iHigh’s feed is god awful and pretty much unwatchable.

I’m still getting the USEF one too and praying it doesn’t get cut off. Finally saw the coverage on the Alltech link and it’s terrible! I really don’t want to have to watch the medal final on this terrible resolution.

USEF stream is gone if you don’t already have it open. I commented to Alltech that while I love that they are offering a free live feed, the quality is so poor that it is practically unwatchable. Perhaps they can partner with USEF Network as they are certainly going to lose viewers with the quality of their feed. You should do so as well if you agree-- Facebook, twitter, and via the iHigh page. Maybe they’ll let USEF Network stream again?

I got it here, no problems, same quality as the USEF broadcast. Running iPhone 5 iOS7 on 4g- NOT on Internet, happened to be turned off, try that if you can.

Good idea, we all need to complain to Alltech.

they didn’t even bring Dedication out for the reserve did they?
If they can, why don’t they?

I am just stating my opinion and, yes, I am archaic having not shown for twenty years. But, if your horse has a wonderful canter, which it should, why not show it off by sitting comfortably? Why did this change? Who introduced it?
I don’t know who started it but Bernie Traurig does not approve. I am from the era where we sat the canter, but I don’t have any strong feelings about it one way or the other, whatever works for the individual.

no…I’m pretty sure he really hurt himself. I thought he looked pretty bad after crashing that oxer and was reluctant to put weight on his left front, although he did walk out.
