Altech National Horse Show

When George used to speak about riding into a fence out of the saddle, he was referring to riding two-point, not bouncing along up and down. The choices were two-point and sitting firm.
Yes, he still talks about that. I don’t think I mentioned that he likes people to bounce up and down.

Sorry, I was thinking of an earlier post.

Regarding this (and this is a genuine question) I’ve always thought that Reed Kessler bounced up and down in the saddle a lot when she rides a course. Her skill and position over the jumper are wonderful of course, but how to you guys regard her style between fences? Maybe its because she is a light-weight in terms of body type?

BTW, those who are clawing out their eyes on the Alltech feed, please contact Alltech and explain your frustration. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll start to listen.

It looks like they deleted the comment saying how horrible their feed is.

I’m guessing that Reed’s horses have loads of impulsion and because of that they push her up in the canter. It doesn’t seem to affect her position or accuracy…

She’s not in the equitation ring so as long as she’s getting it done, does it really matter?

Nice horse has Lillie. Nice ride.

Is iHigh filming on an iPhone? Like seriously, this is horrible

If they were filming on an iPhone, the quality would be a LOT better.

My comment on their FB page is still there, off to the side, ‘recent posts by others.’ I’m getting notifications that others have commented on it, so they must be seeing it.

I’m getting a feed through USEFnetwork and it’s working fine. I honestly don’t mind the ads when nothing is going on. I am getting to watch a wonderful horse show for free and appreciate information on those that underwrite them. And, yes, that may influence purchasing decisions. I want to be supportive of companies that finance these large shows.

Although I am not a hunter fan, I have been glued to the WIHS and now the National. Such beautiful horses and skillful riders. I have to admit, I was thrilled to watch some famous riders. For example, I didn’t realize that Kelly Farmer (a name I know through COTH) had such a distinctive style of riding. Obviously it works because she winner.

I appreciate having the opportunity to watch these shows for free. If the sponsor needs to run ads occasionally, I don’t mind. I don’t find them that disturbing.

It’s not bouncing up and down; it’s a halfseat. No hunter would go around hunter-quiet with someone bouncing wildly on its back.

The most laughable part is the little icon next to the Live indicator that says “HD”. On what planet?

I thought I was clear in my original note that I wasn’t criticizing her riding, but rather making an observation. She is amazing, no doubt. I am just interested in what others might think might be the cause of her bouncing or if maybe I just imagine that she bounces higher than other riders. Maybe she was taught to do it? Maybe its her phenotype? I am genuinely interested.

Crossover class tonight? With saddlebreds? What time?

I think it stands for “horribly deficient”.

I have emailed both Alltech’s media address and the NHS’s contact information and I urge you all to do the same.

Right now the companies only care about $$, as long as they feel they can provide very subpar products and still keep viewership they will ignore us completely. In order to get any type of change (like USEF network covering it), we will have to really push it to them that everyone has gained a very negative opinion of Alltech

How did he crash? With who? Was it just a weird fluke? Whatever the circumstances, I hope he is ok.
I don’t want to come off in the wrong way but I was curious to see what happened. The rider was Scott Stewart. I tracked it back to Class 54 @ 54:29 at this link:

Dedication did walk off on his own so I’m hoping that it was the initial hit that got him and all will be ok.

Amazing ride by Todd. Love this girl.

Eek. Looked like a rider error - like he tried to move up at the last second. Wow he didn’t even want to put his foot down at first! HOPEFULLY he just stung himself and will be ok. What a sweet horse though… looked like he was trying to listen and move up, but it just wasn’t there.

I think I’m going to leave USEF open all night and pray for a miracle.
