Altech National Horse Show
Advertising. The Alltech feed has Alltech products plastered all over the page, forces you to watch ads, has a large banner over the top of the screen, and a smaller banner actually in the screen. USEFNetwork just showed the Alltech symbol/other sponsor ads between classes, and the video/page ads were for Smartpak.
If you enlarge the screen the ad banners are not visible. The quality is poor however.

Where are results? (sorry if this has been asked already, I couldn’t find it!)

The feed is going down so often that it is not worth watching…

I still have my USEF Network…knock on wood. Because all I care about seeing are the AOs…

Oh my…just clicked on the alltech feed and it gave me a headache after one trip. Appreciate them having it, but it’s unwatchable! Please keep the USEF feed…

Looking for a list of the Maclay entries without success…

http://www.alltechnationalhorseshow.com/exhibitor-information/qualifying-lists/ The lists are arranged by region, and the two that qualified through USET Finals are in the additionally qualified list.

Results, guys?

Results links are on the first 2 pages of the thread, including someone who posted actual class results-- they are also available on the NHS website under exhibitor information.

Thank you!

It is not the fashion in the hunters and hasn’t been as long as i’ve been showing starting in the 70s. Remember that the hunters were supposed to be analogous to fox hunting back in the day and although we’ve moved away from that some it is still the underlying principle. You actually see a lot more people sitting the canter in front of the jumps than you ever did in the past but they still don’t sit the canter in the under saddle (mostly). A wonderful canter aka way of going is important for the hunters so getting off their back is the best way to showcase that gait IMO.

There maybe some breed specific hunters that sit the canter… maybe QHs?? But usually not in the USHJA hunters.
George is forever going on and on about this. In his opinion, the riders should be sitting and not in a half seat, and he cannot figure out why this became popular.

Are you talking about George Morris? The last clinic I went to with him he lamented on and on about how people need to get their butts out of the saddle and stop sitting so much. He drove that point home by sticking tacks on riders saddles so they wouldn’t sit down.

He is the mouthpiece for the American forward riding system and I don’t think he’s scratching his head on why people are up and out of the saddles - it’s partly because he told them to go there.

Allow me to shamelessly tout my Maclay spreadsheet (already shamelessly touted in another thread)…

Yep, if we’re talking about the same George, he likes exactly the opposite of what culture shock describes. In my clinic with him, he referred to anyone who sat in the saddle as an “arse-grabber” and encouraged everyone to lighten their seat, except for in a few select instances (riding a spooky fence was one of them).

He said that while sitting into a horse gives you a stronger ride, the American forward seat is a more compassionate, accurate way of riding that allows you to get the best jump out of your horse. Constantly sitting on your horse’s back in a full seated position will encourage flat jumping and is unnecessary wear and tear on the horse.

He crashed badly into an oxer, and kind of sat down in the process and struggled to regain his footing. When he did get up, he was gingerly using his left front, kinda pawing but not wanting to touch down. He did walk out of the arena, but I don’t know…didn’t look good to me! Hopefully it looked worse than it actually is.
How did he crash? With who? Was it just a weird fluke? Whatever the circumstances, I hope he is ok.

When George used to speak about riding into a fence out of the saddle, he was referring to riding two-point, not bouncing along up and down. The choices were two-point and sitting firm.

Anyone have feed yet? I just have ads and the big 1.45m jumper is supposed to start now.

Not here…What a disappointment. Thanks Alltech.

Finally.

OMG. Are they using dial-up?
