I was just thinking I hadn’t seen Always B Miki lately
Don’t think TVG carriers Scioto Downs.
What a race! The dual down the back the second time and down to the finish was more than impressive. Glad to see Miki still has it!
Do some horses do better on the 5/8’s vs the 1 miles or most stdb’s do about the same at both styles of track.
I love watching these horses race. I love watching the different start styles at the wings… some right on the wings from when they unfold while others hang back and are already driving when the wings open.
Some do much better on a mile track. Certainly unsoundness do better due to less stress on a wider turn, resulting in less bearing in/out or being on one line. Rough gaited horses may like a larger track more for the easier turns and break less.
Damn that was awesome! The gait on ABM is so smooth.
Two observations (and woohoo, Miki!):
1 - Folks who follow TB racing are well aware of the strength and fitness required to be a jockey. But I’ll bet SB drivers are right on up there. These guys must have abs of titanium! That’s some incredible core strength required to drive.
2 - That is one serious shadow roll on Wiggleit Jiggleit! Haven’t seen one before that looped up the cheek below the eyes like that.

Combo shadow roll & side roll on WIJI. Miki was giant, esp. considering he was parked out for a bit. I’m a bit of a WIJI fan, too. WIJI got used a bit in the beginning which may have contributed to his not winning. They were both superb and so on their game. The trip matters a lot, too.

Oh, absolutely! If you have a puller it is pure agony & torture, too, esp. in the winter when your hands freeze even worse from the pulling.
I just saw that it looks like maybe Meadowlands is back for harness racing?
If so, will ABM and WJI, et al, be there??
