I know this thread is a couple of years out of date now, but I just found it and wanted to give my experience that I had with Amanda Moritz/York/whatever her name is now. I’m also hoping that maybe someone might have info on the horse I bought from her, but that’s probably a long shot.
I bought a 6 month old buckskin pinto colt from her in November 2013. He was (and still is) named Maverick and she was advertising him on craigslist as a paint/arabian cross. When I went to look at him she had him in a stall with a cremello colt who was probably around the same age. Supposedly (according to her) they were both PMU foals from Canada. She claimed that the colt I bought was out of a Paint/arab stud and a quarter horse mare. I took one look at the colt and one look at her farm and bought him on the spot.
When I went to pick him up she claimed he was untouchable and that we’d have a heck of a time getting him in the trailer, so she claimed she aced him. He didn’t seem too drugged to me, but whatever. 30 minutes of coaxing and a bucket of grain and he was on the trailer and we were on our way. I got him home and called my vet, who then informed me of who Amanda really was. I wish I had gotten a better look at the other horses on the property after that. Vet came out and gave my colt a once over and said he was plenty healthy and so were all the lice on him.
Now, I lucked out. Maverick has turned out to be an awesome horse who has just started his saddle training as a 3 year old. I wish I knew more about his background and breeding (I seriously doubt there’s any arabian in there), but I love him no matter what.
So if anyone had dealings with her in 2013 and knows anything about the colt I bought, I’d greatly appreciate whatever information you can give me.
I haven’t seen any postings of hers on craigslist in a while, but I know she at least still has her “tack” shop going.[/QUOTE]
I noticed in one of the posts from way back, she had a paint/arab stud that she owned and got rid of-- that was unclear. Anyway, it could be your horse was sired by that stallion since the breeding would fit, and she was buying a lot of broodmares according to other posters.
There were quite a few PMU pinto foals, so he could be a draft/TB or QH cross that come out of Canada from some of the farms. Almost all of the PMU horses had some draft, I think.
