Thanks.

Wow. And she had horses seized just 5 years ago?

Apparently she can’t afford a bra either.
Seriously…why does almost every single hoarder, abuser or collector always look the same? Almost every single one I’ve seen featured in the news in the last decade or so have looked exactly like the last one.

Misty—because they’re mentally ill hoarders who with good intentions, take on way more than they can handle. They’re not out spending the money on themselves…there IS no money. They go without a lot for themselves…but it’s still not enough to tip the scales in favor of the horses.

You’re right though…it’s a “look”…

Good luck CGJ. Saw your post on HC and will keep my eyes peeled. Tazzin replied btw with that other site info.

Sickening. Good luck, Jen.

hahahahahaahhaahhaahahahh I am off to buy a new bra LOL. NO seriously, I am joking.

I agree…the mentally deficient ones do have the same expressions…desperate and defiant at the same time. However I don’t think there’s as many actually clinically mentally ill hoarders out there as the media sometimes portrays. Many times lazy neglectful folks are mislabelled as real hoarders and they just aren’t dealing with a mental illness as much as dealing with being a class A assbucket. I just hate to see mental illness thrown about as an excuse or catch-all phrase. This particular woman has an ad or two online for horse sales…hoarders don’t generally sell their animals.
After I got over the semi-blindness from the bra-less-ness I was just surprised to see that in physical appearance she looked just like quite a few other neglecting abusers who’ve made the news time and time again. None of which were hoarders but most of whom were bad dealers/faux rescuers letting horses starve as they begged for money to spend on themselves, etc. They all seem to look the same…I’m finding that odd. Like now the FBI can profile them. She has a very similar appearance to that MeSue woman, that woman who photoshopped her butt on Fugly and a bunch of others I’ve seen photos of.

The list just goes on and on…they’re all pretty similar in appearance. And thhose are just a small handful of abusers and neglectors who were convicted somewhat recently. All female, around the same age and a very similar appearance. Odd.

Perhaps they all ARE the same woman? Its not like they rot in jail or get banned for life. Perhaps not.

Holy Moly. They really do look alike. A local woman whom locals called “the chicken lady” had quite a scary place a while back. The place was foreclosed on and a few of us went out there to check it out (interested in bidding on it). We found dogs abandoned in the trailer, and lots and lots of bones of various animals, rotting sheepskins tacked up on the barn walls, carcasses in various stages of decomposition… and that lady looked just like these women. I wondered how many animals had starved to death or had been slaughtered inhumanely - completely out of sight. I felt like I was at a crime scene - not a farm.

Maybe a mental health worker could explain some of this behavior - I’m not sure it’s all due to “mental illness”.

Bleh.

That’s funny!!

But it is true, when you read one if these stories you can almost picture them in your mind.

Rode hard and put away wet, I’d say.

Kudos on the good eye and the mad google skilz, MistyBlue.

Some of these people are mentally ill hoarders, but a great majority seem to think they are going to make a fortune reselling animals or in Trupia’s case are making a fortune ripping off people for boarding. Notice how many animals in these cases supposedly or actually belong to other people? They have the same outcome on some of the hoarder cases on Animal Planet-they are actually boarding some, or in the dog cases are current or former puppy mill breeders, and most of the time they live in bad, filthy surroundings but if you look at their personal lifestyles (Machette) aren’t hurting for money for themselves. The hoarders do think they are doing the best they can and are totally delusional, but the rest go to great lengths to hide what they do-so they know it’s wrong and illegal so they aren’t nuts, just evil and cruel.

Sorry that you do not have the facts…my 2008-2009 business plan (yes I did have one) included not having any boarders after this fall (guess the SPCA did that for me) …it was obvious in the spring that the few boarders that I had (5 in total) kept their horses with me because they were looking for low rates and had probably been tossed out on their a$$es at other farms for not paying their bills. You dont have to believe me just ask the SPCA…they havent even made attempts to get their own horses back because they cant AFFORD to keep them anyplace. Sadly the mares are now pregnant so were is that going to get the foals next year? I wasnt ripping anyone off for boarding…but I sure did take in alot of unwanted horses in the last 2 years by boarders just leaving them with me with no return calls. A good example is SAVOY8’s friend…she came on here and bit&^'ed about the condition of mares that went back to NC but never bothered to pick up the stallion for weeks on end and then they still LEFT 2 mares and foals here. SAVOY8 should have been more worried about the stallion, mares and foals and made arrangements to pick them up but then again they were not and are not her horses…her job was to make noise, which she did. But she also lied over and over again about other mares that were pictured that she said had never been here…they had and about a horse with an untreated cut that supposedly happened here but it didnt. I have the emails and phone calls recorded to verify but it doesnt matter, the court of the internet has made its decision.

Sadly, not. Alesha Matchett is still in the same rented farm. They claim to let her only have 10 ‘animal units’. She usually has at least 10 dogs and cats, last time I counted. There were about 8 horses last time I checked. And I just saw an add where she is advertising horse boarding and rent for an RV… with your horses.

We’re watching her like a hawk. When we can prove there are more than 10 animals there, and our pleas to the humane society once again fall on deaf ears, we’ll be back here on COTH, asking a few hundred of our closest friends  to call the humane society and the sheriff and demand they do their job. I’ve been working (in my spare time, ha!) on figuring out how the humane society is contracted, what they are required to do, how much they get paid, and how the contract can be switched to someone else who will actually enforce the laws in our county.

It is pitiful that these people are continually allowed to starve animals, and only get slap on the wrist for it.

Sorry to slightly derail the thread. Great job, Jenn.

Norcrest- Oh, in that case you were perfectly justified in starving the horses to death. We all forgive you. Two wrongs apparently does make a right, especially when one of the wrongs results in dead horses.

Cowgirljenn- was that you on the tape? If so, you have such a nice voice

I have learned things about the horse world that I never wanted to know . In this case, the condition of the hooves speaks to the care these horses got. So sad.

eta: Norcrest deleted her post almost as quickly as she made it. Smart woman.

Clones? :eek::lol:

Quintuplets separated at birth?

Now Im totally freaked out. I sometimes have a beraggled midnight walmart shopper appearance… Im at least going to double check my eyeliner so Im not mistaken for a crazy animal hoarder lady… I only have 2 dogs, officer, seriously…

Hey, I’m not saying mental defect is an excuse…but possibly a REASON.

And seriously…any one of these people we’ve talked about? Whether they’re pure scam artists, think they’re going to turn a profit or are true hoarders? They have a mental defect.

IMHO of course. I’m not a doctor nor do I play one on TV.

There are so many different mental disorders involved, though. Some have dysmorphism, where they look at these super skinny horses and just don’t see it. They are the ones I feel sorry for. They are the ones that, if they are ever cured, will see the photos and be crushed to know what they were responsible for.

Some are just amoral- they see the skinny horses and don’t care as long as they get what they want out of it. They can rot in jail.

Then there are the ones who see it, but are so frozen with indecision that they can’t do anything about it. They are already living in their own private hell.
