American Morgan Horse Assoc. opposes Horse Protection Act?

There are neither shoe weight limits nor natural toe length limits in the proposed regulations.

This is a Plantation TWH class and shoe specs are below.

“Plantation Shoe (For Plantation Pleasure Division only.)
The plantation shoe must not exceed 3 pounds, 8 ounces. The plantation shoe must not exceed 1 1/2 inch in width nor 1/2 inch in thickness with no bare plate or other weight inside the shoe. The caulk must not exceed a one inch turnback and the shoe must not extend more than 1/4 inch beyond the hoof at the toe. The heel of the shoe must not extend beyond the bulb of the horse’s heel when a perpendicular line is drawn from the bulb of the horse’s heel to the ground. The use of borium is permitted on the caulks of pleasure shoes, but the thickness of the shoe and caulk with the borium must not exceed 1 1/8 inches. Welded on clips are not permitted on flat shod horses. Clips that are drawn from the shoe itself are permitted. No additional weight shall be allowed on or in the hoof, other than the shoe and nails.”

And you think people will not be using heavy shoes because bands are outlawed?
There are no limits on weight.

Or that hooves will not be grown out long?
There are no limits on toe length.

Another breed that does have limitations on both has proven that is not so.

Personally I feel all horses go better light, but that has little or nothing to do with the ‘no pads or action devices’ and ‘no bands’ BUT any weight/any length legislation proposed.

I get that. One step at a time.

You can’t hang a shoe on a bunch of toe without bands, and those are not permitted under the new rule. One of the versions that I saw also precluded heavier shoes on younger horses. We’ll just have to see where this goes.

All you will see is a bunch of freshly shod horses.Where pad was pulled right before show and put back on after. Heavier shoes were precluded on horses 2 and under if I am not mistaken. I guess there will be a bunch of country pleasure classes now.

Please.

I see rings full of lighter shod Amateur division horses. And, let’s face it, the professional divisions are simply gateways to those divisions, anyway.

Your model makes it look like unless you pile it on, our horses are nothing.

Mine disagrees.
