Q: What is the Saddlebred Sport Horse Incentive Program?
A: This Program is designed to recognize and financially reward owners of registered Saddlebred and Half-Saddlebred horses competing in the sport horse divisions.

Q: Who is eligible?
A: Purebred Saddlebreds registered with the American Saddlebred Registry and Half- Saddlebreds registered with the Half-Saddlebred Registry of America may be enrolled in the Program annually.

Q: How much does it cost to participate in the Program?
A: The cost is $150 per horse per year.

Q: Do I need to be a member of ASHA?
A: The owner of record of the enrolled horse must be a member in good standing of the ASHA during the competition year (December 1 – November 30). A non-owning rider or driver need not be a member.

Q: How is this Program different from other awards programs?
A: The Program pays year-end prize money based on points earned in the sport horse disciplines.

Q: What are the sport horse disciplines? How do I earn points?
A: Points can be earned in the disciplines of Dressage, Hunters, Jumpers, Driving (both combined driving and pleasure driving), Distance Riding (both Endurance and Competitive Trail), Reining and Eventing. The Program eligibility rules and regulations specify how points are tabulated.

Q: How much prize money is available?
A: A minimum of $15,000 will be distributed for the 2011 competition year.

Q: What is the enrollment deadline?
A: For 2011, the enrollment deadline is August 1st. In subsequent years, the deadline will be April 1st.

Q: I’ve already competed this season. Can I count points I have already earned?
A: Yes, you can submit results from eligible competitions for the entire competition year, beginning December 1, 2010.
