Hi All! With the help of someone who replied to a previous post I had published asking for saddle recs, I’ve discovered Amerigo saddles and turns out they seem to be an option for my hard to fit horse. Unfortunately, they seem to be tough to find preowned as I’m looking to go that route and try it for a bit to really make sure my horse likes it, then I will have one built. That said, does anyone know someone who may have a connection or be selling them? What I’m looking for a is a 17.5 DJ ideally with a medium narrow tree. Any help or suggestions would be amazing. Thank you!
Not sure where you are but I see them come up for sale a fair amount on Facebook groups even here in Ontario where there aren’t that many relatively speaking.
Try Highline Tack: https://www.highlinetack.com/tag/amerigo/
Don’t forget the trees can be adjusted +/- one size (ie. med to med-narrow) if you find one that’s perfect otherwise.
Lots in Ontario. Priced in CAD
Have you connected with a local rep or with World Equestrian Brands directly? Typically reps have a decent network and know what used saddles for their brand are available.
And have you figured out what will fit your leg? That may influence how successful your search is, too.
You may also get lucky on FB marketplace, but you have to be diligent about joining all the tack groups and checking every day.
This is the one saddle brand I have not tried for my hard-to-fit horse - and it was next on my list. but I did have Prestige out last week and she left me with a Renaissance demo to try for a couple weeks and basically said we would keep swapping and trying until we found something we both liked. So far, we both seem to like it quite a bit and the demo we currently have fit shockingly well off the rack. The headplate of the tree is adjustable, and can be adjusted as many times as you need by the fitter. They can be wool or foam flocked.
They work on the more traditional fitter model, where it’s an actual certified saddle fitter who you pay for the fitting visit and they rep a variety of brands. May be worth a shot?
