And now I want to get some true answers !

I, being a very black and white person, who does not mince words, would rather not have “blow sun shiners” around, as they annoy me. Two faced people, which the world is full of, as well as brown nose retards.
Say it like ya mean it, or leave me alone… I dont have time for games, nor do I like them.
So, I guess the sterotype on Americans, ummmmm, errrrrrrrrrrrr, is a bit wrong!
Or at least some Americans.

If someone posts a video of themselves on youtube and asks for critique, they can’t, imo, be really serious. ANYBODY, regardless of experience or ability can respond. I can’t imagine anyone posting video on line truly wants serious opinion so might as well say “cute horsie”[/QUOTE]

I think I’ll stick my neck up for posters who posted their videos/photos for critique. I have an equivalent of the USDF Silver medal, an actual USDF Bronze Medal, and previously trained 1 horse by myself up to 4th level. Now I’m bringing up another one to a 4th level. As you can see, I’m not a beginner, but I do ask for advice on the web and it was helpful several times for me. Last time, when I had difficulty with teaching flying changes and I tried local advice that didn’t help us - I got a “light bulb” answers from several posters on the web BB. No, it didn’t solve our problem completely, but it showed us that there is another side of a problem where we were not looking at all. Finally it was a 2 of my clinicians (A. Kottas and J. Williams) who helped me to break thru that. But I do credit the web BB for pointing me in the correct direction.

Sometimes, there are too much “group think” in the local barn and everybody is thinking only in one direction = this is when a fresh eye is very helpful.

I’ve come across some of those screaming, belittling coaches, red in the face, foaming at the mouth, spitting in your face, both Americans and European imports, since I’ve lived in this country. One of the most memorable (kid’s math teacher… lovely…) actually had a massive heart attack during one of his tirades.

That’s not teaching, that’s masturbation. And I’m not paying a trainer to get his rocks off on my time.

It is perfectly possible to get across what you mean without being insulting in the process. It simply requires a reasonable vocabulary and the skill of teaching.

I know, as a trainer in another field entirely, that sometimes it is frustrating and extremely tempting to either lose your temper or take a cheap shot. But, you wouldn’t do that to a horse you were training, so why do it to a human you are training?

If the trainee isn’t getting it, it’s usually because I’m not explaining it properly, or because they are so dim they shouldn’t be there anyway–which is equally much my fault for putting them into the wrong situation, from which they need swiftly and gently removing.

People are not generally wilfully stupid.
