I can’t imagine wanting to do a full body clip with those. But I don’t have them, so maybe they’re much bigger and more powerful than they look. Maybe a trace clip, but IME the smaller clippers are a lot harder to get an even clip with. I have the Andis AGC and I consider them suitable to body clip with (and I do), but barely. I’d not want to go through multiple hairy horses with them.
Hmm. I have the non-cordless Easy Clips and love them but I’m guessing the cordless version might not be powerful enough for a body clip. The Andis website describes the model you linked to as good for “at-home touch-ups,” which makes them sound not so heavy duty.
Thanks, good point!

although the plan is for one trace clip on a small horse…I have the heavy duty Osters that sound like a jet engine and weigh as much as a small child, they are also about 30 years old. Probably overkill for what I need ;), so I was looking for something lighter that could still get the job done.
I bought some mid-weight clippers about eight years ago, but during a hiatus from clipping – waiting for my baby horse to grow up – I misplaced them somewhere. Dammit.
The regular 2 speed Andis are my go to for a full body clip. Not sure that battery powered would handle it.
I’ve used a pair before for trimming ears. Not sure they could do much more than trims. They don’t go through fluffy pony hair well at all.
My 2 speed Andis and my 5 speed Andis Excels glides through the hair like butter. Love my 5 speeds.
I have the Andis 2 speeds with the wide blade. They work really well for trace clipping although they still take longer than bigger clippers. If I had to clip more of a larger horse more often I would buy bigger clippers.
I wouldn’t go cordless. I agree with other posters about the two speed andis. Love them! And you can get the wide blade to make it go even faster.
I clip many horses every season and have Lister Stars and Andis ACG for small spaces or nervous horses. I wouldn’t use the clippers posted in question for more than little tidy up trims.
Mine are okay for ears and feet and I have done bridal paths and forelocks with them.
I’d don’t think they’d have the power, my Andis AGC2 have a hard enough time getting through the thick hair on my warmbloods bum. I use Lister stars for the body, Andis for the legs and head. I used to have a cordless pair for touch ups but it’s easy enough to just plug in the Andis.
My horse isn’t overly hairy and I do his legs and face with a similar cordless Andis clipper. It doesn’t clip his bridle path very well especially if the hair is longer than 1/2 inch. They definitely do not have the power for any larger clipping jobs.
This made me laugh out loud. Such a perfect description!
