Andrew Kocher - electrical spurs?

Yea, I should say “an absolute” shame he can continue to participate in the sport as usual.

The fact that people in our sport, who negatively impact the welfare of children and/or horses, are enabled is just incredibly sad.

I’m a no one in the industry, but how venues, vendors, and professionals react to these situations determines who I spend my dollars with.

And yet people are still buying horses from him. On another note Karl Cook’s Instagram post about horse shows had a very interesting statement about how horses should be treated, loved it!

If it’s clear that she knew all along her horses were going in the ring like this, then she and every horse she owns should get a life time ban as well. Or, ok, if that’s harsh, a ten year suspension.

See how much they’re worth then.

I don’t know that actual people are buying horses from him, but select people are funding his career, and it would be lovely if dumpster fires would stop funding dumpster fires. But then how could they all hang out with the beautiful people??:rolleyes: (man, what happened to my eye roll emoticon?)

Update- he’s been suspended by FEI and USEF pending investigation

That’s great and all but what about suspending the COMPLICIT OWNER of the horses also? Certainly not defending AK, but EH knew full well what was going on, how the set up worked etc. And this next part is heresay, but I heard that the device in her Tell-All video wasn’t even AKs, it belonged to one of her CURRENT, STILL EMPLOYED riders. It was just an “example” of how “she thought” AKs device worked. She’s just as bad as he is.

He was competing in the last couple week’s on a friend of mine’s horse doing the 1.10 and the 1.15 at Mid Atlantic Equitation Festival show at Swan Lake.

@Xctrygirl, according to that link the suspension began yesterday (the 28TH)

While I totally believe she was complicit I think that’s a much harder case to pursue.

The pics of him riding my friends horse are from last weekend.

Which would have been prior to the 28th.

Are we not communicating??? @endlessclimb I know it was before that point. I was just pointing out that he’s not riding at Spruce Meadows. He’s riding my friend’s Tb in the 1.10 at Swan lake. Not exactly equal level shows.

Whoaaaaa, calm down. The intent of your posts were unclear to me as well. I was under the impression you thought he was showing while suspended, which is what I believe the other posters also thought. You did not mention you recognized this was prior to suspension, nor that all you were trying to say is that he’s been keeping quieter. Not trying to cause trouble, just pointing out what your post looked like from an outside view and how it could have been misconstrued. You simply stated a fact without enough context.

I think we should go a step further and just start booing these people when they walk into the ring for their class. If I can clap or whoop for someone I like… I should be able to boo this guy and Devin Ryan.

Yes, he’s been traveling between virginia horse center, Culpeper and swan lake all summer including showing in the grand prix and mini prix classes. I’m not sure what that has to do with spruce meadows especially as many people limited their travel to shows this year due to covid-19.

I was driving by Devin Ryan’s place yesterday with a non horse person and was like yeah that guy beats his horses at shows and people love him.

It’s gross.

These guys are gross.

Kocher should be donezo.

I dont have a problem holding owners responsible as well, but we have never done it with the owners of horses of dopers and/or abusers, so we likely aren’t going to start here.

Yes, I’m confused, too. So, he isn’t showing at the top levels, but he is still making money, and still riding. Who would anyone want this man riding their horses, regardless of the venue or level? I will admit that I am curious as to your friend’s reasoning for employing this person, but that’s not really my business.

The fact that the FEI has “Several Horses” listed in the box does not bode well for him. They take multiple instances of abuse (or doping) very seriously.

He won’t be riding at any USEF shows or those that follow USEF rules.

A few years ago (right after the Hampton Classic incident, actually) I was chatting with a girl in a tack shop, asked who she trained with and she said Devin Ryan. I remember thinking she should be embarrassed to tell me that, especially when this area is packed to the gills with successful, humane trainers.

Still tons of people on LI who train with Paul Valliere, too… it just blows my mind.
