Andrew McConnon horse abuse

That’s my understanding as well.

In addition to that claim about the unreleased videos (which apparently related to a horse flipping over and hitting its head and getting a serious cut in the process, and were part of the evidence submitted to USEF and FEI), there are multiple comments on Facebook from people who claim that the SO aided/abetted covering up the abuse by providing Dex so that the inflamed appearance of severe whip welts was mitigated.

I have seen this comment/defense of the SO related to him not possibly having been present because of 9-5 working hours pop up more than once. I find that strange. Many large animal vets work various hours, and respond to emergencies on nights and weekends. Also, it is well known that the SO has ridden with AM for years, and the SO is present in the barn during his off hours.

I find this defense citing the SO’s working hours unpersuasive.

Honestly, this AM guy is sounding more and more like someone who is very deeply angry at himself for what he is, and he is taking his rage out on others. And I am just going to leave that comment right where it is…

My very first thought when I heard of the
entire situation. I’ve lived through that type of anger and it isn’t pretty, in fact it can be downright deadly.

Just about the dex… I don’t know anyone in that area that didn’t have dex on hand, or get it prescribed regularly because of the MFing fire ants. Once a vet prescribes something, there is a risk that it won’t be used the way you prescribed it.

Sure, that’s a risk, but when you also ride at that barn and witness these things you can’t really cry plausible deniability.

We have one person’s statement that we heard the vet on a video. One person’s. I’m not going to get into it over a message board with a bunch of strangers who don’t know these people personally, but I’m not willing to crucify someone who isn’t in any of the videos currently released, not when I actually know them personally.

I know some of the folks here commenting here know them. All I am saying is if you mark up a horse at 10am, give them dex at 1015, and your partner comes home at 9pm after a long day of emergencies, how are they to know what is being administered? (All timelines are just examples, I don’t know anything about what went on).

I have it on hand for cellulitis or hives flare ups. It’s not necessarily a drop-dead vet emergency so hate to call them out, I always let them know what’s going on and they set the dose and schedule, but it saves them the trip

I think what some of us are saying is if there are stitches, hard to say that AM put those in himself, no?

Yup. This mare was fine when I put her on the trailer, but must had laid in fire ants right before we left for a lesson, and this is what I opened the trailer to.

I think what we have seen of AM he is clearly horrible.
This is not me sticking up for him.
I would prefer to wait on the vet significant other until there is more information to know if he too is a victim of the lies or if he was part of the cover up.

I know when my vet comes to fix something they (to my face) believe what I am telling them happened. They do not grill me like it is an investigation to figure out what might really have happened or to determine if I am being honest.

People like AM are likely very good at lying and I have no doubt is more than willing to not be honest to his significant other.
I also doubt these were the first horses (in his career, not specifically for AM) this vet has sutured because they flipped over in cross ties.

Your opinion-don’t agree I don’t really care. I have it from a reliable source.

I’m not crucifying anyone, just stating the simple fact that the SO (if involved) likely knew that there was abuse happening and could use your example of dexing as plausible deniability even though it’s not. I’m not here for a pissing contest, I just find it highly unlikely that IF the SO was performing medical care on these horses that he didn’t suspect or know things that should have been red flags. That’s all.

Anyone willing to do a quick Tl:dr about where we at at? I read the first 50 or so posts and now we are 1k deep.

Fair enough.

There’s clearly lots of people speaking on social media about this situation who claim to have information from sources close to the situation.

Who knows. I just find it hard to believe that the SO isn’t aware of the issues.

The Eventing Nation article is excellent for a timeline and where we are now.

He also grew up in a religion that’s notoriously anti-LGBTQ… That’s all I’m going to say on that topic.
