Andy Kocher posting in OTTB Market (Facebook)

I don’t have anything aspirational or inspirational to write about this, I’m just a tired nobody.

Just that it’s upsetting that people would support this person in any equine endeavor.

His brother is dating a trainer in my area, and he has given clinics here. Just YUCK

I’m not on FB much and definitely not on any FB market pages. So I have to ask: Is he selling OTTBs? Advertising his “training” services for OTTBs? Commenting on OTTBs offered for sale there?

I can’t stand Andy at all, but many members of his family are ok. He grew up around where I am now and was always known as bad news. The family members I know couldn’t be more honest. That said, I agree that holding clinics with him is…just…ick

Same question here.

I’m not on facebook but if he is trying to obtain OTTBs then their owners should be advised of why he has been suspended by the FEI for ten years. Racing people may not know of him.

It’s a sale ad. Looks like he’s only ever posted one other time in that group about a year ago with a different horse for sale.

He already owns/breeds racehorses.

I’d be so tempted to ask him if he’s decided to give up electric spurs as part of his training method.

He stays pretty busy. Has a TB for sale right now so I can see why he would post in those groups. A local vet in the area even rides with him which I find kind of baffling. I was willing to hear him out on a second chance the electric spurs with changed behavior then be starved his broodmares and took 0 accountability for it so… f that.

It’s a shame because he had a lot to offer in a sport that increasingly has a huge gap in knowledgeable young horse development but sadly I think that ship has sailed.

He learned it from the racehorse industry! They get out of the gate faster…

Did he really have that much to offer on young horse development, though? It sounds like the horses that came through his program came out with a lot of mental baggage.

Buzzers maybe. No wired spurs like his could be missed on a jockey’s boot.

I know someone who purchased a horse from him (I think through an auction or something, they never met). The horse is actually lovely and seemed to have no behavioral issues you’d expect from abusive training tactics. So maybe he only reserves those behaviors for some unlucky horses….
