Was he ever found? I notice the facebook page has not been updated in quite a while, just wondering if the search continues.
I think he wasn’t found. Signs are still up around here.
No. It makes me so sad. He clearly did not survive the winter. And now, near me, there is a lost Golden Retriever who got spooked at a dog show and is missing. It is a bad area for a lost dog - heavily wooded, not a lot of houses, etc. I am really worried for him.
I couldn’t imagine the heartache.
No Andy was never found. However, something good did come out of it. His owner, Jordina, ended up joining up with Karin TarQwyn, the dog tracker and is now the East Coast Director for Lost Pet Professionals. While they were never able to find her boy, she is now working to help others find their lost pets.
I followed the saga of Andy from the beginning, and sent monetary contributions the first year. It became too sad to follow by the second year as the updates grew less and less, then finally stopped. If he was still alive, I think he’d be over 15 by now. Not a good age for survival on one’s own. He could not have survived last winter on his own. I can only hope some caring person found him and kept him.
I often think of Andy and check in on his FB page regularly just on the offchance. I can’t imagine how gut wrenching it would be to have this happen.
I believe Andy was barely 11 when he was frightened off by New Year’s fireworks. He was sighted all that winter, spring, summer and autumn. I believe the last known sighting was during that following winter. But then there was an awful amount of snow at some point and I was so fearful for him. He was 12 by then, and I couldn’t imagine an old dog being out in that snow. He had proven himself to be a tough little dog, Corgis are, but that was a lot to expect. I do not believe that he was spotted again after that. My heart breaks for Andy and Jordina and Michael. I do pray that someone got ahold of him and gave him a warm and loving home. The “not knowing” is the worst. I experienced this with my first dog when I was 10 yrs. old.
