Angelus Leather Balm = Vogel Boot Creme.... EXCITING UPDATE!

You guys! I think this stuff is the closest thing still made to the venerable, now extinct Vogel Boot Creme.

Check it out: https://angelusdirect.com/products/leather-balm-4-oz

I posted this on the thread about cleaning boots, but I thought it warranted a thread of its own.

Anyone else have any products that they use on tall boots where they would have previously used Vogel Boot Creme?

Also, Vogel is still around. Why did they stop making their stuff and where are they sending their own customers instead?

No answers to your questions but had to thank you for this tip. I’ve been using an ancient bottle of Propert’s but am almost out and am not that happy with it for my brown Dehners, which need a little more moisturizing. (Didn’t want to admit it on the other thread because it’s SO contrary to all advice I’ve ever received, but I’ve put Belharra balsam on them. They look great and still shine up just fine.)

Yessss! Thanks mvp!

I always assumed that that it was discontinued because it’s kind of messy, separates too easily, and probably tended to rot the stitching on the boots. But I haven’t found a good alternative to use under polish that really does the same thing. Maybe a good wipe down with water and then a light buffing of Higher Standards soap…but all those types of cleaners seem to dull the finish. With the exception of brushed leather.

You guys! Vogel Boot Creme is back! I repeat: Vogel Boot Creme rides again!

I found it (for a bit of coin) at Atlanta Saddlery.

Apparently, Vogel couldn’t make it because the one guy who supplied the one crucial ingredient couldn’t get it. So they just punted. As far as I know, there was no offered solution. We were supposed to have un-conditioned insides of our boots for, like, 10 years. Anyway, the supply problem has been solved.

PS, I think the magic ingredient in this stuff-- both Vogel and Angelus-- is carnuba wax that is somehow emulsified and then not emulsified when you put this stuff on and it dries.
