Anhidrosis - veterinary note for early ride time?

During one of my “can’t sleep” nights, I wondered if anyone had ever gotten a veterinary note for their horse with anhidrosis then asked a show for a early ride time before the temperature was over 80F to accommodate the condition? My mare is a poor sweater - sweat in winter but only under tack during summer, so I’m done by 830/9am. 80F is our “cut-off” temp. I figure there’s no chance in heck that would be permitted but… what the hell… thought I’d ask.

Always ask the show manager. A vet note helps and if they can schedule it, they will try. Never hurts to ask.

Can’t speak for show management, but as a DVM, I’d be happy to write such a note for a client.

As a show manager, I would definitely work on accommodating such a request. A note would help, but honestly, I would work with it even without a note. If you’re kind to the show staff and volunteers, that’s about all I need.

It also helps that most people don’t want the dreaded 8AM ride time.

Ask. All they can do is say no.

And as much as I hate 8AM ride times, I hate 12 noon in the heat of summer more.

I had the horse, wrote the note and am a DVM, was accommodated every time - clinics and shows. All they can say is no but at least you tried.

Sometimes they can’t because they need rides in the same group close together so people get their ribbons in a timely manner, but it never hurts to ask.
