Animal Defense League?

Yesterday, during my pastel class, a very nice older lady invited me (and the class) to purchase a ticket to attend a function to support the ADL. I smilled pleasantly a demurred while alarm bells were going off somewhere in my brain.

I googled ADL when I returned home and it appears my alarm bells rang true. They ARE an animal rights league, correct? Anti-hunting, correct?:mad:

I don’t know whether I should vaguely say no thanks during next week’s class, or go into a low key tirade  about my opinion of such groups.

Any opinions, recommendations, or select words I can invoke during my tirade??? Should I take a photo of me shooting my .357? A recipe for moose stew? A synopsis of my attending TVH’s intro to foxhunting I attended last summer???

No reason to get mean. Just tell her the truth-you have a schedule conflict and as president of the local NRA chapter your board meeting takes precedence.

BWUahahahahahahahahaha
JanM,
Thanks for the retort!
There are tons of gun shows around here, too, could also use that as a reason!

Depends on which group she’s referring to.

There is a Virginia shelter with that name but I don’t think you live near it. It provides low cost spay/neuter and seems to be just a typical type of animal welfare group. I think so, anyway. You just never know until you do some digging.

Then there is the one that may be closer to what this lady is involved with - and it is affiliated with the Animal Liberation Front. It is an aggressive activist group that believes in total animal liberation, the elimination of pets, etc.

So I guess if you take JanM’s advice you’ll discover which group this lady belongs to right quick.

Cool about the pastel class - I would love to take that up - but alas… I can’t even draw a stick figure.

Hey - let us know what the lady says.

My suggestion would be to mention some type of shooting sport, deer hunting, bear hunting, etc., and be careful not to mention your hunt club or foxhunting.

Reason being that some of these “innocent little old ladies” are mean enough to harass your kennel in some manner.

Just hope that she has never heard of TVH.

Geez! My apologies to the Grammar and Syntax Nazis! I just read both my posts and saw glaring errors!
Mea culpa! I haven’t finished my first cup o’ coffee yet.

Aw heck - no one cares about that stuff anymore.

Now it’s called, inventive spelling.

If any of y’all get the Outdoor Report - check out the recent case of impending hunting. Some waterfowlers, lawfully hunting, were harassed by some idiot blaring a horn.

Said idiot discovered the hard way that harassing or impeding lawful hunting is a crime in this state. Oops!

JSwan,
Just down a few drinks, strip nekked, roll around on the pastels, then throw thyself onto a large piece of pastel paper.

Call it “abstract art”, threaten to jump off a building, anything to get attention, and you WILL become famous!
