Animaps

Does anyone here use Animaps with their GPS? I saw an Animaps of a Moreland hound’s day and it was more than awesome. Did the tutorial, but don’t know if I have to save my Garmin to a certain file first, how to download.

Sorry that I can’t credit the creator, but the Animaps I saw was basically a Google map with the hound’s track moving through the country. Really cool.

I use My Tracks on my android phone to record the hunts. Once done, upload them to a google account (gmail) and they display on google earth or a basic map- my choice. This application shows the track, total time, total time moving, distance, fastest speed, average speed and elevation. Pretty cool.

For a year or so I used a regular Garmin GPS and uploaded the track onto a National Geograhic program but using my phone is SO much easier.

I do the latter all the time. My Garmin tells me all the info you mentioned.
Maybe I should get a Gmail account, but I just have a ghetto phone - A “GoPhone” from ATT that saves me about 600 dollars a year because I rarely use it.
The thing about the Animaps is that it is animated - it moves and you can put pop-up photos from the day on it and notes. Also like you said, basic map or Google Earth. Animaps is a Google ap, so what you say makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for the info!

You can import a GPX into google earth pretty easily and animate there. Its cool to see the map over actual terrain.

Sounds very cool. I need to find the time to get myself updated on this stuff, will be helping with a search and recovery in late March and my Garmin is a bit long in the tooth.

Yes, a google account is required to upload the tracks because you record it on your phone. I can also add photos and notes about the days hunt to the map. You can place markers and ID property on the map too.

What made it appeal to me is that it is so user friendly, you don’t need a whole IT department to understand it or make it work.
