Anky Saddle ID

I’ve never owned one. I bought one at a tack swap yesterday. I know nothing about it other than it’s beautiful.

Serial number is 466909

Any ideas? It has ANKY stamped under the flaps and it’s textured.

If I don’t love it, I’ll probably sell it.

I would be surprised if Anky Van Grundsven actually had her own designed from scratch saddle line. It’s more likely that she has licensed her name to models of other saddle companies, as famous riders occasionally do. I know she has her name on a line of saddle pads and riding wear, I saw a lot of it at the Equestrian Factory Outlet store on discount. The branding was very intrusive and while the clothes were cute, I absolutely am not supporting Anky in any way because Rolkur

Anyhow, can you figure out what the actual manufacturer of the saddle is? Isabel Werth put her name on a Wintec, so just because it’s an Olympic rider doesn’t mean it’s a high end saddle.

I know the Ideal saddle company will make private label saddles for people. We have a local.saddlw fitter who has cooked up her own configuration and orders Ideal saddles under her own brand name. It took a bit of internet sleuthing to figure this out. She’s not in a back room stitching leather or even in control of the factory, she just orders her own configuration.

I don’t know if any other reputable manufacturers do private label as much as Ideal

I did a quick Google and saw a couple of second hand Anky saddles with no information as to who the actual manufacturer was, but not a website for Anky saddles specifically so I have to assume they are private label and maybe no longer in production.

If you can figure out the manufacturer or send us a photo that might help

Here is a link to the Anky tack store. No saddles.

Ok a little sleuthing found that there was an Anky Pessoa dressage saddle. Pessoa is a mid range brand.

And lo and behold.

We had a thread on this a few years back where yes, it was confirmed the Anky saddles are Pessoas.

It very well may be Pessoa. I’ve ridden in some of those and this one has some similarities. I also found another number on it.

What do you want to know about it? You could try emailing Pessoa and the Anky tack site. I know that some brands like Passier can tell you the year and the custom configuration from the serial number. Of course saddles are flocked to fit a specific horse so you may need to tweak the flocking.

You’ve got your seat size 17 inches and your wither gullet Medium marked there.

The textured leather is buffalo, nice grip to it. I absolutely LOVE my Anky saddle, it’s the most comfortable saddle I’ve ever tried. Obviously, everyone has their own favorite saddle, but I tried a ton of saddles before I found the Anky saddle at Dover. Instant perfection for me.

I bought it about 15 -17 years ago and used it every ride (several a week for many years). It still looks pretty pristine too, the buffalo leather holds up well.

Anything really. I’ve never owned one. If it’s a Pessoa, is it adjustable? I’ll send an email to Pessoa

It’s a beautiful saddle. I’m hoping it fits one of my horses. If not I’ll have to sell it.

All saddles can be adjusted to some degree through reflocking. Some saddles, usually lea expensive ones, have interchangeable wither gullets
