I’ve searched the forums but can’t find the info I’m looking for. We are wanting to order soft shell barn jackets that we can embroider with our logo. What brands would you recommend? What’s popular out on the circuit? Please share those you like and don’t like!
Our dog club orders those from a local place that provides uniforms and sells t-shirts and jackets they will customize for individuals and business.
Try google for those where you are.
You can go see what they have and order what you like.

I went to the local embroider shop but they were very limited in what they had in the shop to try. I was just hoping someone that has already ordered them would know the brands and styles the majority of the girls like.
There are so many styles, it’s hard to ask for samples. Hoping a savvy COTH shopper can narrow my search!
I have a lot of t-shirts printed from Custom Ink. I think they do embroidery as well and have super customer service and great website where you design everything yourself.
Lands End also does jackets with embroidery. They have a “commercial” line. Just google.
Lastly, we order scrubs that are embroidered from VAC (veterinary apparel company). They also sell jackets and such that can be embroidered. Nice products.
I have a Chuck Roast jacket I wouldnt sell for the world. Many and I mean Many years ago my husband’s boss gave company embroidered jackets one fall. They were from Chuck Roast, very well made and warm. In 2003 when he was forced to retire I adopted it as my barn jacket. Being angry with his boss, I figured shoveling shit in it would be a small stab at him. Have been horseless since 2008 but still wear it. LOVE my Chuck Roast.
One can only hope the quality standards are as good today as back then.
My favorite jacket is a Marmot softshell that my prior company issued me. I’m not sure what price point you’re looking for.
The same company also issued me a really nice Eddie Bauer fleece. I am 85% sure both were ordered from www.logosportswear.com.
Smartpak has a nice softshell. They did a wonderful custom job on the embroidery.
Our barn did an order for jackets maybe 10-ish years ago? My jacket’s zipper finally broke just the other day. Before that, I’ve never had a stitch come undone or anything. It needed to be re-water proofed once or twice but that was about it.
It’s a Port Authority jacket that I think we paid something like $70-$80 for all those years ago. I wear that jacket every.single.day during the colder months. Definitely well worth the money!
ETA: Here’s the link to what I’m pretty sure is the EXACT same jacket…so maybe we didn’t pay as much as what I thought? Or maybe it was more since the full back of the jacket is embroidered and also the front with my name.

I’ve had a softshell Lands’ End jacket for years now that I got when I was 13 from my old barn. It’s about 11-12 years old now and still going strong! It looks very similar to the Squall jacket.
They got it embroidered on the front left chest area and on the back of the jacket as well. Front has my name in between 2 snaffle bits and the back has the barn logo. Everyone who’s seen the jacket even now loves it - not to mention back then! It also has a million and one pockets, which leads to me hiding things from myself - treats still left in that pocket, a hoof pick in that one, ect.
Our horse club just ordered Stormtech jackets. They are also the same brand I had for my barn jackets.
We bought Port Authority jackets and had them monogrammed.
Port Authority is the same manufacterer as the Lands End jackets. The wholesaler is San Mar out of Cincy, they handle a large percentage of the team and logo business nationwide You can look at their website but they don’t sell retail.
Embroidery prices are based on stitch count and digitizing your logo (get the disc if you do this), small set up charge if you use a stock logo. Usually off Clip Art. The more pieces you ordrr, the better the price. Be sure your embroidery price quote includes digitizing and set up, those can run 50-75 and are not included in the stitch count price, and specify you will take that disc with you- they go out of business, you are out of luck and have to pay again for digitizing the logo.
Best luck and price can be found by looking in your yellow pages or googling team sports attire/uniforms for your local area. They order and handle the embroidery right there so if a needle breaks or there is a misspelling, they can replace it. Folks don’t think of that often, they should, who covers damage and replaces.
My company ordered these jackets as a employee gift, and they’re really sharp. They look much better in person than in this photo-- they’re a nicely fitted shape, warm, easy to clean.
Thank you all for the great info! Interesting that Port Authority is the manufacturer of Lands End jackets. Who would have guessed? I’ll check theses out.
Findeight - thank you for the tip about thevdigitalized logo! I never thought about asking for the digital logo version on a disk - it makes sense since we paid for that long ago. Sure hope the local shop will give that to us.

Actually, the jackets made to accommodate the addition of logos and many of the shirts are from the same (overseas) manufacturer, one is not manufactured by the other. They just sew the appropriate label on the same jacket before it ships. That Tri Mountain jacket mentioned above looks very much like its out of the same factory too.
Browse the San Mar site to get an idea of the styles available and don’t overpay for a “name brand” label on the same jacket.
Speaking of getting a good price, you might want to look into some Polo shirts too, maybe some caps… More pieces get a better price both for the clothing and embroidery set up and application charges. There may be a small charge for expanding ir shrinking the logo to fit various items but it’s still cheaper then multiple orders at different times.

My favorite jackets ever are Port Authority. I got them as one of my uniform choices when I worked in a factory. Unfortunately, they no longer make my favorite style- hooded, sweatshirt type lining, zip front and zip pockets including one inside zipper pocket- I can only find random sizes and colors in clearance when I google the style #.

The Sideline jacket? That was my biggest seller, there must be something similar? Try looking at the catalogue, it’s on their website. Look under team apparel, towards the back.
I just googled the style # again of my favorite jacket- it’s this one. Last time I looked- over a year ago- I couldn’t find it other than marked “discontinued”. Maybe I’ll get myself a monogrammed barn jacket for Christmas!
I love my jacket like that Shakeytails! We got them for a work event a few years ago and it is my favorite. So comfortable.

Make sure you mention taking the disk or file with you right up front. There are a lot of companies that give you pricing based on if you want the logo to go with you. For instance Company A will charge $50 to digitize but will not give you the file unless you pay $70 (an additional $20 basically) This is mainly because digitizing is time consuming and expensive especially if they have to contract out the digitizing process to speed things up. Also remember if you do get the file you will not be able to open it yourself. Request several formats such as .DST and .XXX (tajima and compucon files)
Also keep in mind some places only keep logos for so long. We let people know we keep designs for up to 2 years of no use and after that we remove them to clear up space. And no use meaning they get it digitised in 2008 and come in at least once a year until 2013, come 2015 and that logo has not been used for 2 years we get rid of it.
Sanmar is one of our vendors and the port authority/port and company jackets are really nice ones that hold up pretty well.
