Another looking for... dressage stallion with super ridability!

I’m looking for a stallion for a friend’s mare. Her breeding is Gauguin de Lully (Swed WB) x ‘A’ line Trakehner.
We are looking for a dressage stallion that:

  1. Is obviously a lovely mover.
  2. Has a super, super temperament and rideability. We need to improve the ‘mind’ the most.
  3. Has proven offspring.

Thanks in advance!

Without seeing your friend’s mare I can’t recommend a stallion specifically for her, however, a stallion who comes to mind who does tick off all the boxes you mentioned is the RID stallion Steeped in Luck.
Lovely horse, successful dressage horse, and has a very kind temperament.
His oldest foals are I think about 5, and just starting to show (someone correct me if I am wrong on that).
The ones I have seen are lovely.

And he is in Canada, and is available fresh semen.

Rubignon!

Freestyle. I have a PIA Swedish mare with lots of talent, but improving temperament was number 1. I have a 5 year old and an unstarted 3 year old by her and Freestyle. SUPER temperaments–he’s reknown for them. He also moves like a cat, and both girls are like that. Super easy to deal with, correct, fluid movers. I just came home from championships with the 5 year old and every single judge wrote “sweet expression” and “relaxed, super mover.” She did a futurity test in pouring rain, wind, hail, doors blowing over, and finished. Super, super horses.

The offspring are doing well all over, and Jennifer is super to work with at Dreamscape Farm. He has the super Florestan lines, great fresh cooled semen, and his stud fee is better than most stallions with less to offer.

Widmark, Oakwood Farms, owner Meg Williams

I have a Freestyle son who has a tricky temperament - very reactive (yet very smart). He’s out of Dreamscape’s Pacific Sabra. My good friend has a Freestyle son who is currently entered in the 70 day stallion test. He’s out of a supposedly hotter mare (Dreamscape’s Oladuala, a Dutch mare by Hierarch) but has a calmer temperament than my horse and very uphill movement. I’ve spent time with this stallion and he’s got a great brain and very uphill movement. He has some very nice babies on the ground. Perhaps the mare has much to do with what Freestyle passes (or I have an outlier). OP, do you have a video, a conformation shot and full pedigree of your mare? PS. I bred my “A” line trak mare with a lot of research…I’m wondering about the Trak side of your horse’s breeding!

I have no real suggestions since I know nothing about breeding but, Steeped in Luck is quite the looker! Wowza!

I second Widmark. Super temperament and rideability in the foals as well as consistently good movement. (have had 2, one from a somewhat pushy mare)

Don Principe (donnerhall/Prince Thatchxx) is himself a Grand Prix stallion with an impeccable work ethic and great temperment. He is passing on both as well as the athleticsm
Here is a video of Don Principe and his 5 yr old son just thispast July

Wow, Marydell…both of those stallions have simply delicious walks! Yum!

Widmark, or something R or D line.

I will second Don Principe for that very good Donnerhall mind.

Rosenthal also throws kind, gentle, “in your pocket” youngsters. The Rubinstein line is noted for generosity under saddle, but they can also have their own kind of sensitivity.

Rosenthal indeed – the temperament and mind are beyond compare. He is a Rubinstein son, out of a Karon ( sire of Caprimond) mare and you just can’t get a better combination for a temperament beyond compare than that. In my experience the ‘Rubinstein sensitivity’ is one that has to do with smart horses, and again my perspective is that it is a good kind of sensitivity. Now - lovely mover? Yes, in spades, and proven offspring, yes indeed. You didn’t mention conformation and beauty – but Rosenthal again produces both, consistently. And my money is where my mouth is regarding my opinion of Rosenthal as a sire – we have 2 of his offspring due for 2014 – one out of a DeNiro daughter and one out of a Donnerhall daughter . . . . .

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I’ll pass them on!

Bugatti. I have 2 and both are high quality horses with the best temperaments and trainability I’ve seen in young horses.

I thought Bugatti has been sold to the mounties.

His frozen semen is still available through Hilltop.
