Another OTTB pedigree thread :)

Hey pedigree gurus! I have this guy on trial right now, great brain, cute mover, has been sitting in a pasture the past few years, so hard to tell what potential he has!

I’ve heard Storm Cat babies can be “difficult”, which I’m not seeing at all with this guy. What else can you experts out there tell me?

Forestry is a respectable sire. He’s relatively high up on my Desirable Sons of Storm Cat list; Stormy Atlantic is at the top, but I like Forestry better for sport than some others (Giant’s Causeway, Tale of the Cat, etc). To my knowledge, Forestry isn’t known for throwing hot or quirky personalities. Depends on the dam, too-- an Unbridled mare is a nice cross.

It’s always good to see Fappiano and Pleasant Colony in any sport pedigree. Unbridled is a good source, usually horses with a strong hind end, good build, good jumpers. Pleasant Colony often throws a lot of leg…though Forestry doesn’t show much PC influence (more Storm Cat in type, compact) and tends to produce SC type. (See Shackleford and The Green Monkey for typical examples.)

Without seeing your horse, I’d expect him to be attractive (some chrome?) and athletic, solidly built with a big engine.

Forestry is such an attractive horse for sport. Balanced, fairly tall… and he tended to reproduce that look. I cared for a colt by him named Ottawa Chief that I was instructed to have gelded… I remember thinking what a sin that was, as looks and movement alone would have garnered him a home as a sport horse stallion.

I was bummed to hear Forestry was sold to Brazil last year. I was kind of hoping to breed to him myself since his fee had come back down.

Well, he definitely is good looking horse! He caught my eye immediately standing in a pasture with about 25 other horses!

I can’t wait to see what he looks like with some muscle and weight on him! So far so good, I’m 99% sure I’ll end up buying him but love hearing from the pedigree experts

Linebred to Dr Fager, most of note IMHO. Excellent sport horse type. Like FORRESTRY. Don’t find SC to be difficult so much as you need to handle them fairly. Never met a Forrestry I didn’t like.
