Another pony stallion thread! Talk to me about Tb x Welsh crosses?!

I’m not breeding for color, so I’m open to all pony stallions. I just really like Mirabeau’s gaits. I’m hoping to find a stallion with similar movement and will give me the best chance at a foal under 14.2h.

Breed to one of the smaller *Telynau stallions like Royal Anthem. Bottom of the page here: http://www.mayeshowponies.com/Atstud.html

So many nice pony stallions!! I really like all the suggestions and I’m looking into each one of them. Does anyone have any info about Cherub’s Casanova or Blue Who?

I dont agree that you must limit yourself to Sec. As - I know of many large ponies produced from mares of 16.1 and 16.2hh by smaller sec. Bs - especially those with primarily imported bloodlines. I have a large pony mare - 14.2hh exactly out of a 16.2hh mare by Land’s End The Colonels Fox (13hh Sec. B) who is a full brother to my own Land’s End Adagio. Adagio(13.1hh - all imported bloodlines) has been bred to larger horse mares as well and the resulting foals have stayed large pony. Personally I would stay in the 12.2hh range if you look at Sec. Bs and would look for a stallion with imported bloodlines. Blue Who is a lovely crossbred stallion owned by Sandy Holbrook - go to www.sugarbrook.com for more info. I have seen him in person and he is very sweet and a great mover.

Agreed. Sometimes it’s just a matter of how the cards will play out. There are a couple of lovely 14.2 HH pony hunter prospects by our Alvesta Picasso and out of 16.1 & 16.2 HH warmblood mares…he is a Section B Welsh, but he’s also only 12.2 1/4 HH. That being said, our Section A stallion Penrhyn Sporting Chance has also produced large pony hunters out of 16.2 HH Thoroughbred mares, but he’s only 11.1 1/2 HH.
