Ant hills from hell!

So we have had one resident ant hill that is about 2’ in diameter and the suckers bite when I pull weeds around them. Now we have 4-5 all over and I am over it. No animals graze near these so what is the best method to eradicate them? I am not opposed to chemicals at all! Give me your big guns!

Boiling water for non-chemical.

Cyzmic for chemical, terro if they’re the kind of ants that like sweets.

Spectracide Fire Ant Mound Destroyer. Just a little sprinkle of the Spectracide, water it in. By morning, all are permanently deterred

Looking at YouTube it seems as if molten aluminum is a way to control ant hills and make interesting art at the same time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGJ2jMZ-gaI

I broadcast Extinguish ant bait 2-3 times a year and get good results here in my location at the GA/SC line. There is Extinguish Professional, which is an insect growth regulator, and Extinguish Plus, which is an IGR plus an insecticide for a bit quicker control.

The IGR is fed to the larvae and prevents them from maturing, and the colony eventually dies off because it stops producing worker ants to feed itself. The IGR plus insecticide also lets the workers transport the bait into the colony to be fed to the larvae, but then begins to kill off the workers, so it can get quicker results.

The IGR type can be used right around grazing horses. For the insecticide it is best to leave it ungrazed until the workers have moved the bait underground. This usually takes only a few hours if the workers are actively foraging.

Interesting tidbit I recently learned. The worker fire ants cannot eat the solid bait. They carry it to the larvae, which do the eating for the colony. The worker ants only receive their nutrition by drinking the larval secretions.
